Despite icy cold and bitter winds, Alaska peace patriots
take it to the streets... I think there were about 60 of us, although it was hard to get a good count since people kept running to their cars to warm up. :)

8. Yes, Dimond Center...
Another one is planned for tomorrow at the Federal Building, so I'll have some more photos.

I might add here that the response to our "honk for peace" signs was phenomenal. I think we got flipped the bird maybe five times (so original), but I would say hundreds of honks, sometimes four or five cars honking at once. It was extremely gratifying. Even truckers in their semis. The tide is turning, I do believe.

22. One of the honkers was my buddy, Kenny
actually more of a big brother - I've known him for 35 years, and in addition to being the greatest big brother ever, he builds the HOTTEST cars!! (He probably revved the engine, too, but he definitely said he honked & gave you guys the high 5).

The Fed building should be interesting - are any of the big assholes (Stevens, etc.) in town? I'll let KT know where you'll be, so if he's in the mood for another drive - and he's always in the mood - be on the lookout for a VERY hot older Monte Carlo with blacked out windows and a super loud motor. He's on our side!!!

24. I'll look for him...
You should tell him to join us. :) I don't know if any of the honchos are in town or not, but, in any event, I don't think there will be too many people actually IN the federal building tomorrow since it's Sunday. I don't know exactly what's planned - someone at today's protest was just passing out flyers asking us all to be there, so that's where we'll be. Strength in numbers.

18. The temp was probably around 15,
but the north wind was brutal. But as I said up thread, the response from the passers-by made it all worthwhile. Anchorage rocks.

17. Please take me seriously when I say this.
I love (agape) every single person out there today. If you encounter these people again please give them a big bear hug from a pacifist in Florida. Let them know that their commitment means more to me than anyone in my community willing to stand out in 76 degree sunny skies. They are patriots of the highest calibre.

38. Woo hoo - and I think I know the guy with the family values sign
If it's who I think it is, give him a hug for me.

What was the public reaction? I'm curious, knowing the feelings for anwr drilling=republican vote.

I wish I was there with you guys.

Maybe in a couple months I will be, I'm finally scared to be in the "lower 48" but not sure if I should leave the country or move back to Alaska.

39. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive...
I saw one woman yelling something until her face was red, but couldn't hear what she said as she drove by, about three middle fingers, and some kids screaming something that you couldn't really tell whether they were pro or con, but there were hundreds of honks, peace signs, smiles and waves. Every time we hold a vigil or protest, there is more and more support here. Alaskans are good people and independent. I loved the response we had.

41. good job!
And you have my sympathies. Here in Wyoming, we've done a number of events in the wind and bitter cold. One Friday afternoon, when we always do a half hour "stand up" downtown with 'Honk for Peace' signs, it was 32 below. And I must admit, we only lasted about 20 minutes. It takes some real dedication -- and learning how to layer clothes effectively -- to stand out there when it's that cold. But you warm our hearts!!!

42. It's much warmer now!
We had a good dumping of springtime snow the past couple of days, and the cold-snap from when the photos were taking is over!

Hopefully no more cold snaps until next winter!

I wish I could've gone! Looks like they were cold, but from the sounds of them on local tv, they still had a good time.
