Is it POSSIBLE that the anti-war movement won?
Thois may very well be the best news I have heard in a long time. WE have the numbers and this is the time to REALLY work for only the Peace candidates for 2006...this may very well make the difference for 2008

quote........
The Anti-War Movement Becoming a Political Force That Cannot Be Ignored

A new national poll shows that a near majority of voters either strongly or somewhat agree with a pledge not to vote for pro-war candidates. This makes the anti-war movement's potential impact on elections larger than pro-gun, anti-abortion, or anti-gay marriage voters. Politicians will have to pay heed to this new political force.
The pledge states:

"I will not vote for or support any candidate for Congress or President who does not make a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and preventing any future war of aggression a public position in his or her campaign."

The national poll found that 45.9% of US voters agree - 20.1% strongly agree and 25.8% somewhat agree. Among Democrats 67.1% agreed - 33.3% strongly, 59.2% of Independents - 25.3% strongly and even 25.7% of Republicans agreed - 5.5% strongly.

2. No. The Iraqi resistance won.
They, unlike our politicians and generals, realize that "shock and awe", "smart bombs", and body counts do not "victory" make.

They know that determination and patience will win. They learned from Vietnam - the Pentagon and politicians didn't.

As a Political Science prof told us as we were "disrupting" his class in 1968 (he supported our efforts), "The war will end when enough bodies come home and the average American has to reach for his wallet to pay for it." Which is exactly what happened.

4. A tough comparison
less than 3,000 to over 50,000. Hey, I'll take the small victories. Maybe the EXTREME of this administration and the lies surrounding it has finally gotten through. Remember, they are not seeing body bags on the 6PM news every night like in VietNam. Not everyone is as political as DUers. It took time and the Internet to get the message out....god knows MSM is not helping.

3. The movement will have won when we are no longer at war.

7. I completely agree
and I love your tagline.

But I fear the warmongers will not let us get that paradigm shift easily.

That's why we have to be vigilant. Take the small victory of 46% and make it a majority by 2006 election. Moto, our ability to blow up this planet now makes it that much more imperative that we force a change in direction or ................
That JFK quote has always been my favorite.

9. Even if it were a majority...
the fact that we still have troops in Iraq getting shot at is evidence that the anti-war movement hasn't won. Hopefully this will change soon though.
