Is anyone else pissed off with NPR' daily "Pro-War MInute?"

Every morning like many of you I tune into NPR for my morning get ready for work news. For some months now I have noticed an annoying bit of programming that shows up on NPR's morning programming every weekday morning. The Pro-War Minute.

It many be on Morning Edition or Marketplace or one of the other "features" in the NPR morning hour that repeats from 6am to 9am in my area but it is there every single day. It's a little piece of propoganda that sounds like it was written by the Pentagon. The NPR mouthpiece opens an issue that the BFEE has been getting flack about and then proceeds to "interview" an administration lackey.

Two things you can count on every morning; there is no anti-war voice interviewed and the piece favors continuation of the war. Add a list of softball questions that Larry King would be embarrased to throw out as too soft and you have the formula.

Since NPR is gearing up to ask all of us Liberals and Progressives for money here in a week or two I thought now might be a good time to air the dirty laundry. What say we dock good ol NPR a few bucks off last years donation and tell them why.

Or we could keep listening to the "Pro-War Minute."

I've given up on them. I haven't listened or contributed in years, not since they shilled for the Iraq invasion three years ago. They were shameless back then. Doesn't anyone remember?

Thursday or Friday it was "Marketplace" talking about how hard we were working to fix the electrical system in Iraq. Other days it's other things slipped into the rotation but it's always there.

5. I can't listen to NPR anymore...makes me to angry

I expect stupidity from the networks, and expect partisian blather from faux. But NPR was supposed to be above all that. And they pretend they still are.

Give your money to Pacifica. Yes, it's depressing to listen to, but at least they tell the truth.

9. Am Glad I Am Not The Only One

...who doesn't listen to them anymore. I would also add to Pacifica: Air America. They have an "agenda" but they, unlike the MSM, are up front about their approach and make no bones about it. I might even listen once in awhile to something that is rightie if they actually said they were. The unspoken lie about NPR and the rest of them is that they do not seem to be able to be honest about their real agenda. Plus AAR is by far more entertaining as well as informative and usually days, if not weeks ahead of other corporate media.

So sorry to hear that you had to listen to this crap. Personally I will endure commercial ratio a la Air America before I will be an enabler for NPR.

They dropped the ball in the lead up to Iraq soooo badly that now I almost never listen to them.

Our fascist brethren have succeeded in cowing them and now a national resource whose foundational charter is dedicated to providing alternate points of view brings you business shows sponsored by the Wall Street Journal.

12. I would be... if your single concrete example was true

All the Iraq segments on thursday and Friday were about the lack of progress, FRAUD and CORRUPTION in reconstruction spending and the wasted reconstruction money spent on security for contractors. That electricity and oil production is LOWER than it was before the invasion. I don't think you even listened to Marketplace.

Very few listen to NPR anymore, they have totally sold out and no one knows what to do about it. NPR doesn't seem to care because they get most of their donations from corporations, not the public. The way they sell Iran is shameless. They are such a dissappointment.
