Let's hear it for all those who took to the streets today to protest!
They should be welcomed home with a thread celebrating their actions.

On behalf of DU, thanks for making your presence known on the streets of America. :toast:

3. I had to pack to move....
had someone in to clean the basement and attic today...and someone to say that all the old furniture and crap in this house is crap...not worth doing a house sale before I move.

:(

But kudos to all who turned out to protest.

I HATE moving. Despite my great age, I have yet to do it... But must soon.

4. I'm at work
(Sounds like you are, too. I HATE moving.)

Usually, if it's earlier, I can swing both, but things started too late. I so wanted to be out there. I guess I'll just try to enjoy it vicariously.

5. Figured you were working....
Friends at work refer to the whole process as <my name> being thrown out of her house by her sister.

Jeez, it is hell selling after less than a week on the market. Though it is a great house, but being sold AS IS. Props to the purchasers, who see it as a great canvas for the future.

I am moving to a beautiful condo in Forest Park...just west of Oak Park. Close to the nieces and the triplets. :)

6. Well, I made the very end of the rally
I had agreed to precinct walk before I realized there was a rally. I so wanted to be there that I decided to finish my precinct tomorrow and I went to the rally. I wish I could have gone sooner.

9. You were there
(and always are, IIRC). That's what counts, not that the precinct walk wasn't important at well.

Thanks for all of your hard work.

8. even in this militarily saturated town, there was a fair turn-out at our
event.

yes, kudos to everyone who showed up at all the events, and to those who were there with us in spirit. and kudos even to the corporate media whores, who at least ACKNOWLEDGED that these events were going on.

We had a smaller than usual gathering today--guesstimating 600 or so people. Of course it was great, I was just a bit dismayed by the small attendance as were several others. I'd say there were more people for the Codepink march on International Women's Day from the Iraqi Embassy to the White House. After the crowd thinned today, a small group was heading to Rummie's house.

Hopefully the action on Monday, heading to the Pentagon, will have a better attendance. If only I didn't have to work...

ETA: Best sign I saw today..."Compulsory Vasectomies for South Dakota Men"

14. Exhausted!
Just got back from San Diego March. It seemed to me that we had many, many more than last Sept. 24th, and then we had a couple of thousand.

Feet hurt, am exhausted, so 'night-night.' But it was a GREAT experience. It went very well.

16. I Made It To The SF Rally - Finally!
Okay, I've been in San Jose for a business conference. Before I knew that there was a rally scheduled, I'd decided to leave on Sunday so I could go up to San Francisco and do the tourist thing. It's one of my favorite cities in the U.S. Well, I was a slug and slept in this morning. Then, I had trouble finding a FedEx or UPS place that was open on Saturday to send my conference goodies back home, rather than lugging them on the plane with me. So, I finally set out around 10. After a few wrong turns, I was on the way to SF. Stopped at a "vista point" to take pictures of the beautiful nature reserve along the way. (Who knew?) Decided at the last minute to check out the town of Pacifica for various reasons. Spent about 1/2 hour there. Had lunch in Daly City, made a few wrong turns trying to find the BART, and finally made it up to the Civic Center around 2:30.

I walked around for a bit, took some pictures, and bought some stuff. The drummers were really good. The giant Rumsfeld, Condi, Bush and Cheney heads at "Liars Anonymous" were amusing, too. Another person had a giant Bush head with "Read My Lips", and when it opened its mouth, it said "oil". Talked to a woman at Vets for Peace that looked amazingly like Cindy Sheehan, but she was doing a petition about Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange, so I figured it wasn't Cindy after all. I never did hook up with the other DU people on the California section.

Well, my flight back to DC is tomorrow at 9 AM. Ugh. I've got to pile in early, so I can get up at 5 to check out and return my car.

I could really live here. Except for the price of housing, that is!

22. I was at the San Diego rally
I actually stumbled into it. I'm from Houston and I was there on business yesterday and was at Balboa Park today to visit a few museums so I joined in the anti-war event for a little while. There were probably 500 people there and it was very well organized. Terrific speakers, booths and signs. My favorite sign was a large one of Curious George that said Delirious George. The organizers of this event are to be congratulated! I loved it!
