So-I guess the housing boom is over in Texas
I was looking on RealtyTrac.com,and found the following for some of the cities around the state
foreclosures and bank auctions
Dallas-3019
Arlington-1162
fort worth-2521
austin-1169
houston-3979
san antonio-3689
(by contrast -los angeles has 716)

3. Housing sales are slowing down all over.
I've been in the termite control business for five years now, and I'm seeing more and more repos. And the number of houses sold is slowing down as well. Here in Arkansas, a certificate guaranteeing there will be no termite infestation for a year is required by lending institutions. So I sort of know how bad the housing market is by the number of estimates we get in per week.

7. Bound to happen - I know someone on the brink.
The family moved into a new home in a well-to-do neighborhood in Dallas; they were living WAY beyond their means to begin with, then the dad lost his job and had to take another that paid less. They are using credit cards for gas and food; have cut out all their children's extracurricular activities/sports and are living in fear. They keep hoping he'll get a better job but no luck. Once the credit cards are maxed out, they'll have some tough decisions.

8. Well, I for one certainly hope all the shows on TV about
house flipping and DIY are creating buyers for existing homes at least...I'm planning on taking over the family home and selling my house to pay for repairs of family home...and I don't want to do the fix up on my home when I have so much to do at the one I'm moving into...there is at least 3 generations of junk (5 bedrooms full + closets and basement) and stuff to clear out plus stuff from cousins and aunts and uncles that died off...there is just a lot of sorting and tossing...pluse painting, tearing up of carpet- new furnace, and roof...so I really don't want to do the painting and staging at the house I'm selling - I'll sell at a reduction, as is price...
