30,000 birds die of flu in Russia in day
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=3b76fd89b4cc9424

Russian officials report the country has a third major outbreak of the deadly H5N1 strain of avian influenza.

Thirty-thousand birds died in a 24-hour period in southern Russia -- including almost 22,000 in the Krasnodar region with the rest in Daghestan -- RIA Novosti reported Thursday.

Officials say southern Russia is especially vulnerable to the disease because of the number of migrating birds that pass through the area. So far, more than 350,000 birds have died of disease or been culled in Krasnodar and 760,000 in Daghestan.

This is going to be a mess when it hits America...

3. Bullshit! The vector is factory poultry farming, not migrating wild birds.

4. factory farming
brings us mad cow and bird flu. Factory farmed animals are abused, fed the wrong food, housed too cramped.Disease is rampant on factory farms. The animals are unhealthy, tortured. This inhumanity is biting us in the ass now. We bow to the gods efficiency and consuming and we all get cancer. And because we do not stop the factory farms the corporations and refuse to stand up to these exploiters, and we just keep on respecting those who abuse we as individuals will reap the rewards of our collective enabling.

14. That's a vegan argument that I can accept.
Not being one to become a vegetarian because of a perceived immorality in the act of eating meat, I would, nevertheless, consider boycotting factory farm meats.
