I am sure this has been discussed here before. I am sorry I am just now coming to it
Here is just one some links from Google search

This means Clinton administration did this as well and how about this from the above text.

"Harvard President and physicist James B. Conant, who developed poison gas in World War I, was brought into the Manhattan Project by the father of presidential candidate John Kerry. Kerry’s father served at a high level in the Manhattan Project and was a CIA agent."

Is this true about Kerry's father?

Gosh.
WTF

1. Not just in bombs - bullets also, especially the warthog gunships
.
.
.

Genocide one bullet at a time

Spreading disease and suffering for millenniums

When Hitler died, and Saddam removed, the killing stopped instantly

But the USA will continue to kill long after it loses it's SuperPower status

They KNOW what Depleted Uranium will do to the Middle East and it's citizens in the long run

Planned genocide, pure and simple - the modern version of blankets poisoned with the smallpox flu to eradicate American Natives

Haven't changed a bit in 200 years . . . .

Sick fuc*kers y'all voted in there

(sigh)

2. I believe it
It is truly sad how many people they have already harmed with DU, and we have poisoned Iraq (and downwind) forever.

+10,000 US soldiers are dead since the first gulf war

over 50% on disability- most likely the effects of DU, but the military still won't admit it and help the ones who are being harmed in this war.

3. Long on accusation, short on fact.
The SF Bay article is filled with inaccuracies, innuendo, oversights, fabrications, and twistings of information. It's an editorial, is all it is, with informative content next to none.

They talk about "radiation," "nuclear wars," etcetera, but fail to convey even the most basic information about ultra-short-range alpha particles, which is all that's produced by depleted uranium. Alpha particles bear almost no resemblence to the gamma rays that are traditionally thought of as "radiation." It's scare tactics, promigulated by somebody with a specific agenda. More to the point, they fail even to mention that the alpha radiation from depleted uranium is only dangerous if particulates are inhaled--in which case you have a much bigger problem than radiation, since uranium is a heavy metal, and therefore highly toxic. By the time you got a large enough dose to cause health problems from radiation, you'd probably be dead from chemical poisoning. That's the real danger of depleted uranium, but the anti-DU crusaders are more interested in using it to push an obsessive anti-nuclear agenda, and to accuse the US of deliberate genocide, rather than actually dealing with the problem.

They say that vaccines don't cause cancer, but they fail to mention that the vaccines given to U.S. troops in the Gulf were both experimental and loaded with preservatives which are now known to cause autism in children, immunodeficiency issues, and a host of other problems.

They say that US troops were only exposed to vaccines and depleted uranium, which is not true. They conveniently ignore the destruction of chemical weapons depots, the toxic fallout from oil well fires, pesticides applied to US uniforms, and any other potential toxin sources.

They focus on the Gulf War, but make brief mention of Yugoslavia and Kosovo, claiming that this supports their case. The reality is that there's no real data pointing to any significant uptick in cancer or anything else from this area.

In the end, much of the rhetoric on depleted uranium boils down to a handful of ultra-doves who really just want to cry imperialism and claim that the US has deliberately set out to commit genocide for oil, and that all recent presidents have been equally guilty. It's a load of crap. I would have thought that there were enough real wrongs committed during the recent national malfeasence that people wouldn't have to make up new ones, but apparently I was wrong. There are always those who would prefer wail and gnash their teeth, blaming all Americans for everything, the good guys and the bad guys alike, rather than actually hold to account those who deserve it.

5. I'm not an expert on DU, but all the research I have done states
that there is beta and gamma radiation as well as the alpha in DU. Not particularly dangerous unless it is ingested, which is precisely the use to which it has been employed. It contaminates soil and groundwater(especially in the large amounts that are released when the ship, plane, tank, and soldier born shells explode.) not to mention the large and lasting airborne clouds that are released. There are some reasonable statistics that seem to indicate larger numbers of potentially radiation induced birth defects and illness in the places we've dumped the most of it... i.e. Afghanistan, Kosovo, etc..

If you have any information or links dealing with these issues, I would love to see it. The stuff horrifies me and I fight fear with facts, so any further facts you can point out to me would be appreciated...

Thanks

4. I did a one hour call-in show on cable access last month
And the whole show was about depleted uranium.

Horrific stuff. As one former director of the Manhatten Project said (in my research). "I would say that DU is the perfect weapon for killing people. Lots of people. It just keeps on killing".

Iraq, in this war has received the radiological equivelent of over 8,000 Nagasaki bombs. And that figure is a year old.

While it's true that approx 50% of veterans from the first Gulf War are on disability from Gulf War Syndrome (more and more evidence is pointing at DU as the cause), The actual number dead is attributed to ALL causes. I don't have a reliable figure for that one.

Somebody needs to go on trial for war crimes. And that could just include Wesley Clark and Bill Clinton. They were using DU in the Balkans.

Sorry, but if I have to indict everyone in the current administration, I can't let a couple of ours escape culpability for their actions.

This is from the October 21, 1996 edition of the Nation.
