What does Vernon Robinson mean by "go native"?
Vernon Robinson is running for the US House in North Carolina’s 13th District. He was also featured in this week's Top Ten Conservative Idiots. But take a look at this quote from his campaign website:

http://www.vernonrobinson.com/robinson_contents/about

"As for me, I have the courage of my convictions. You will always know where I stand...I will never blink in a staring contest with the Left. I will always fight for what's right and I will never go native."

Can someone explain this jargon to me?

1. Who knows?
All I know is he occasionally makes the news for saying stupid and controversial things.

.... falling prey to the "inside the beltway mentality" of going along to get along as opposed to following the positions and statements that got you elected.

See; Joe Lieberman.

DINO's and RINO's suffer from "going native".

3. "Going native" was an insulting term missionaries had for traders
who adopted native dress, learned the language (instead of insisting they speak English), and (horror of horrors) took local wives, especially nonwhite wives.

I suppose this pinhead means he'll never sacrifice his screwball principles no matter how many people tell him he really needs a rear end full of antipsychotics to sort him out.

14. Going Native
This is a direct, derogatory reference to the American Indian.

4. "Go native" is a racist reference to African Americans who
disagree with his politics. He is 'above them' and won't revert to 'native'...

Similar: The audio Randi Rhodes used to play a lot of a Log Cabin Republican who lecturing other gay men, telling them to become Republicans by saying, "Be a man. Take your balls out of your purse."

5. That's weird. Here's so more weird stuff from his site:
"That's right I'm running for you. I'm running so that your children and grandchildren will have a nation with secure borders and won't have to learn a foreign language just to get a job. I'm running so that you and I can defend traditional marriage so your children and grandchildren can have one. I want your children and my children and their children to be able to continue to say “under God” in the pledge of Allegiance. I want you to continue to be able to defend you and yours with your 2nd Amendment rights. I want you to help me transform our health care system and make it a 21st Century health system that serves everyone, makes everyone healthier and does so using the internet and other technology at lower cost. I'm running for you.

My opponent may be running for congress for the trial lawyers, or homosexual activists, or partial birth abortionists, or for the other special interest groups who fund his campaign, but I am running for you."

10. I wonder if this quote has anything to do with it:
"I served as a member of the Winston-Salem City Council for eight years, where I represented a heavily Democrat district. In 2002, I got an unheard-of 70% of the white vote and 20% of the black vote."

6. Does he mean negative? I thought his list of endorsements
'interesting'.

At one time or another I have been endorsed by:

Jesse Helms, Alan Keyes, Bob Barr, Elizabeth Dole, Lauch Faircloth, Richard Burr, Tom Tancredo, U.S. Immigration Reform PAC, English Language PAC, Jack Kemp, Dick Armey, Gary Bauer, the NRA, the Executive Directors of Gun Owners of America and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Right-to-Life, Bill Bennett, Pat Buchanan, Pete du Pont, Police Benevolent Association, Int'l Association of Fire Fighters, Republican Liberty Caucus, The Dixie Daily News, Southern Caucus, Richard Petty, and Jeb Bush.

President George H.W. Bush honored me with an appointment in his administration and hired me to work on the staff of his re-election campaign. My political heroes are Ronald Reagan, Jesse Helms, Clarence Thomas, and Antonin Scalia. That should give you a pretty good idea of where I stand.

11. He's promising to be a loyal Whitey,
and to never show any loyalty to his fellow Blacks.

"I'm one of you, really I am, just let me go and I'll kick a few more Darkies to prove it."

13. The guy is a jack ass
but going native means he won't sucumb to the Washington mentality. It is a pretty common term for outsiders running against incumbents.

15. It's a British expression for colonials who
take on the customs of the "natives," interact with them too much, even--heaven forbid--marry them.

I guess he means he won't forget the people back home and become part of the Washington establishment.
