I hate the word "glitch". I hate it.
The word "glitch" is always used to scapegoat any computer error that someone is too lazy to explain or solve. Here it is used to hide fraud.

<snip>
Grafton – No matter how you do the math, 193 “yeas” plus 198 “nays” don’t add up to 369 votes.

That faulty equation — results of a warrant article vote from Tuesday’s election ballot — was the first clue for Grafton town officials that something was wrong.

“They told me one of the dip switches let go, or the problem had to do with one of the dip switches not being set — that’s what LHS told me after I read them the information from the tally sheet,” McDow said.

The toggle switch glitch likely caused some ballots to be counted twice, McDow said.

1. It is a screwup or a design flaw.......not a glitch.
DREs are a screwup by design.

2. fwiw, When we were doing government witnessed testing
in the old days on large mainframe systems, there were 96 hour reliability tests, any screw ups were not glitches, they were "anomalies". Just so you would have your governmentese correct.

3. Give me a break
"dip switch let go" RIGHT!!!!! If the switch was 'bouncing" as we call it, it should have skewed results all over the place from when it was first turned on. I've been troubleshooting electronics "glitches' for 40 years and that explanation is a crock of shit.

4. My earliest recollection of "glitch"...
I believe that was the sound effect in MAD Magazine whenever someone stepped in doggie-doo.

5. It has a specific meaning in digital logic.
It is a signal that gets through a logic network that is sufficient to trigger other logic, but which is an artifact of timing skew through the network, or other electrical defects and not the correct result for the given input.

8. Glitchgate
That's exactly why the whole computer voting fiasco should be called "Glitchgate", because computer errors happen for a reason and we need to know what the reason is, every single time.

9. I like that. It's shorter than "Rare but usual glitch that always
favors of Republicans but that we should just dismiss."

lol
