Has that "liberal media" myth been damaged much?
I've seen several people who used to complain about the "liberal media" turn around in the last few years and just give up the ghost. After 5 years of shameless shilling for the GOP, it seems that at least a few of the Kool-Aid drinkers see the sad reality.

I have an uncle who still complains about the "liberal media", but he does it with alot less conviction than he used to, and he won't argue his position at all anymore. It's like an old magic word that's lost it's power. He tosses it out there every once in awhile to see if it works, but it always fizzles and he drops it.

Still, I can't assume that my own experience is representative of some larger trend. Do you still hear people complain about the so-called liberal media with any conviction?

1. Those who think that...
...have based their political thinking on a lie.

It's difficult for them to admit it.
False pride is a terrible thing that the ego won't let go of easily or without a fight.
Emotionally, these types are fragile.
That is why they are quick to anger defending the indefensible.

2. No, some republican Representative on Reat Time
used the liberal media excuse multiple times.
The phrase isn't dead, it is the sky is falling effect...
You hear it so much, you black it out and don't react to it any more.

No one on the panel cut her off at the knees for making the liberal media excuse. No one.

3. I caught a hint of that meme
on the Boston Legal boards a few days ago. Someone "remembered" reports of WMDs being used during the invasion. I pointed out that I was certain we would've heard of it since then if it had been true, and this woman said she doubted it.

Obviously she's bought in to the whole "liberal media" lie.

4. I heard it just this morning on C-Span.
Total Kool-Aid caller, moaning about the media being left-wing.

6. It really doesn't matter, so long as the faithful continue to believe it.
When I tune in to hear a bit of wingnut radio, I hear nothing but "liberal media" and "liberal bias" (the latter, here in GA, comes out sounding more like "libruhl bass").

The wingnuts probably look a little more buffoonish for saying it, but they continue to assert that reporters are mostly liberal, hence the media is mostly liberal.

God said it, I believe it, that settles it!

7. Unfortunately I read it all the time in LTTE's...
Remember, they have been beating this into people's heads for 20 years or so. It is still very much a gut level reaction, a 'religious dogma' that many sheeple still believe in and use on a first responder basis.

For whatever reason (or unreason) there are still many believers out there. It's like those Katrina victiims who thank God for saving their lives while the natural disaster (an 'act of God') basically erased all of their physical supports and means of any comfortable existance. Many people refuse to see Bush as an idiot that has failed at every level of his life and has never really accomplished anything that wasn't brought about by his family and/or friends. They see him in terms of Thomas Acquinas experiencing the dark night of his soul. Anyone who points out a literal fact that is uncomplimentary is just one of the many demons who attack at every chance. There's no logical basis for the feeling, it's all emotional and 'spiritual.'

The myth of the Liberal Media lives on.

8. Sadly, I haven't seen that.
The repubs I know are not happy with boosh right now, but they are still loyal to faux because everything else is too liberal. Also, they still hate dems & would not vote for them. If the dems don't come out strong & hard against the war, the repubs, with the right candidate, will win even without Diebold.
