I am not at all happy with Senator Joseph Lieberman. He has taken a position in support of President Bush and the Bush Administration's orchestration of the Iraq War. It is clear that the entire Iraq war was based on a set of purposeful lies by the Bush administration. The documents in the British press make this clear, as does the publicly accessible agenda of the Project for the New American Century, a war-mongering corporate group who are using the United States and its brave citizens in our military to enrich themselves at our expense.
I take issue with the assertion of Senator Lieberman that there is progress in Iraq based on the appearance of satellite TV dishes and cell phones. That is simply ridiculous. I do not believe that Senator Lieberman fully appreciates the human cost of war on our troops as well as the Iraqi people. I also believe that the actions of the Bush Administration, which Senator Lieberman supports, have served to galvanize the Arab world against the United States.
Many Senators were fooled by the Bush administration when they fabricated lie after lie to start the Iraq war. But now that those lies have been exposed, it is simply unacceptable to continue to support military action in Iraq. It is now clear that our troops are fighting and dying on a daily basis not against terrorists, but against a native Iraq resistance, an insurgency that only exists because we are there, and that would simply dissolve if we leave.
This is one of the reasons I am supporting Ned Lamont for U.S. Senate instead of Joseph Lieberman. Ned Lamont understands the truth about the quagmire in Iraq, and opposes Bush and his Project for the New American Century war profiteering cronies. Ned Lamont will do what is right for America, instead of what is most profitable for the war corporations and oil companies. This is the kind of brave, honest and strong-willed leader we need to represent us in Congress. Joe Lieberman has let us down, and its time to replace him.
