I wasn't really sure at first how much I'd use this function, though I thought it was a pretty cool deal. I already have a blog, which is sometimes neglected for my fiction work or to post on DU, though I do transfer some of my better posts over there. Not necessarily for wider readership, since I'm not sure how many people actually GO to my blog from my website. Probably not as many as I would like, since I include a warning on my site that it's not for the non-political or self-described neocons.
But I find there are a lot of things I've put in my journal that never make it to my blog at all. So, I guess, in that respect, it's pretty useful. From what I can tell, however, those who have perused my Journal, few have added any comments to those that are already there from the original posts.
So in many ways the Journals are like time capsules...we can go back days, weeks, or even months later to see what we wrote, and see what people thought about it at the time.
I still think they're a pretty cool deal.
