Marines kill 15 civilians including a 3 year old girl.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Shortly after a roadside bomb killed a U.S. Marine in a western Iraqi town, American troops went into nearby houses and shot dead 15 members of two families, including a 3-year-old-girl, residents say.

The military is investigating possible misconduct by the Marines and confirms there is a video, which Time Magazine says shows the aftermath of the Marines' assault.

Time, in a story in this week's edition, reported that a U.S. colonel went to Haditha for a weeklong probe to interview Marines, survivors and doctors at the morgue. The magazine cited unidentified military officials close to the investigation.

The probe, Time reported, concluded that the civilians were killed by Marines and not a roadside bomb, and that no insurgents appeared to be in the first two houses raided by the Marines.

Sleep well, America.

At least the marines are killing children over there so they don't have to kill them here, or something like that.

2. I saw this story in the Phila. Inqy. this morning.
Of course it is denied by the military.

As another poster said this morning, we are entering the My Lai phase of the war.

I am old enough to remember when we were the good guys, or at least perceived that way. No more.

11. Show some respect YOU
*waves flag about* No matter how many children they kill, no matter how many horriffic acts they commit, no matter what we must support them, we must encourage them, our men and women in uniform need to feel a sense of pride of what they are doing.

9. That's a three-year-old TERRORIST girl
Never forget that our faultless, star-spangled, red-white-and-true-blue freckle-faced boys and girls in the military never kill anyone who doesn't need to be killed:

"How can you shoot women and children?"

Don't lead them as far as you would a man.

"How can you tell if you just shot a terrorist?"

He ran when I started shooting at him.

"What if he doesn't run?"

Then I just shot a well-disciplined terrorist.

16. Rumsfeld says "collateral damage"; I say cold blooded murder.

"The probe found, however, that the deaths were the result of "collateral damage," investigators said."

"Collateral damage" is one of Rumsfeld's pet terms. But there's a big difference between firing a rocket into a neighborhood (which is still indiscriminate murder), and soldiers walking into a home from which NO weapons have been fired, and spraying the inhabitants with gunfire.

Didn't the Nazis favor wiping out whole villages if no one would rat on who was in the underground?

24. I'm practically in tears right now -
my daughter is 3 years old. Last night before she went to sleep, she and I cuddled close and for the first time she responded verbally to my "I love you sweetheart" with "I wuv you too mama". I am at work right now, looking at a picture of her and I can't imagine someone breaking into our house and killing her. Especially somebody whose superiors claim is there to help. I am so glad that I leave in 20 minutes because I want to get home and hug her close. This insanity has got to be stopped.

31. don't flame me here but it will be probably better for the person who
or persons who did this to go ahead an be killed because it will torment them for the rest of their lives. Thats why they don't llke to diagnosed you with post stress, instead they try to pin it on something else, like some underlying problem that you have had for a long time so they will tell you. If the soldiers who were bound for a war zone was to meet with people who have been there and done that then thing would be a lot different. The trouble this times is none of the ones that were the most responsible had any military service at all.

Taking Out the Trash

snip

The new division was declared combat-ready in Octobver 1942 and sent to western Serbia under command of 12th Army. Most officers and NCOs were Germans from Germany, or Reichsdeutsche. The rank-and-file, almost all Volksdeutsche, were routinely referred to as “Musselmänner” (literally “Muslims,” but also the term used by SS concentration camp guards for starving prisoners soon to die) and scorned as lesser beings.

The division’s marching song, composed by SS Hauptsturmführer Sepp Krombholz, showed that the men knew exactly what their task would be:

Our trash division!
And many Serbian skulls
and many Serbian maids
will I soon see fallen . . .

Phelps sent his troops into their first action on 5 October, an attack against a partisan brigade led by Maj. Dragutin Kreserovic in the mountainous Kreva Reka area. Together with troops of the Bulgarian 9th Infantry Division, the SS men were to seek out and destroy partisan units. In case anyone misunderstood, Phelps noted in his order of the day that, “the entire population of this area must be considered rebel sympathizers.” MORE...

by the Pentagon as "one marine and fifteen civilians killed by IED (roadside bomb)" when it happened. How many reports do we hear every day about the death tally claimed by "Improvised Explosive Devices"?

We should be questioning every death explained to us by Washington!

Lara Logan has been reporting on this for CBS, showing video of the aftermath of the attack.

"The U.S. military confirmed to CBS News that it has paid compensation to the families of those killed in this incident - and compensation is only paid when the dead are not enemy combatants."
