6. Feingold is definitely a better politician than the good doctor ...

He speaks his mind but I think he's got enough media experience to know what NOT to do. Whether he ends up being our nominee or not, I think he's already performing a great service to the party in the same way Dean did -- reminding us what a REAL Democrat sounds like.

Seriously, what does she stand for? She screwed up on her health care plan 6 weeks into Bill's first term, and as far as I know, she never once got back into the fight.


I want someone who'll stand up and fight for people who have nothing. Right now that's John Edwards, but I'm open to suggestions. Mainly I want someone who'll fight and not fold.

4. I'm not convinced Feingold will resonate with most people

Remember, we're still a very small part of the base. How Feingold plays with the rest of the base, I don't know yet. Still, I'm hopeful.

I vastly overestimated Dean's appeal with the base. The base is who turns out in primaries, for the most part, and Dean underperformed with that base (of course, he was subject to constant attacks, but I thought he was popular enough to withstand them...I was incorrect.)

21. I supported Dean, and was badly disappointed, too.

I think it was the second $500 I sent him when he promised a real effort in Wisconsin even as his campaign was being sucked fucking dry of money by yet another professional campaign manager. Until he stiffed Wisconsin even though he made a point of hitting us up hard for money for a media campaign that never happened, I was with him. After that I felt, well honestly, I felt robbed. I think a lot of Dean, but I'd never send him another cent.

Honestly, most people in the US have never heard of Russ Feingold other then brief mention of his opposition to the Patriot Act and then this censure resolution.

Establishment dems are not liking Russ one iota. He is the Anti-Bush, and at the moment the Democrats are hungry for just that.

He is pro-defense but not stupid defense, he is the most fiscally conservative member of congress in the best sense of the word, anti-corruption and not just recently, extremely non-partisan so he truly is a uniter. However, true politicians generally won't like him because he calls a spade a spade.

Markos says he'll put Gore on the polling list just as soon as Gore says he's in the running. An understandable stance.
But, obviously, it's a highly unsatisfactory stance to many Daily Kos visitors.

9. My favorite is Al Gore, who was cheated out of the election, and

should be starting the second year of his second term. Gore is so strong on the environment, which at this point is the world's most significant problem. Kerry was also robbed and he is a true progressive as is proved by his years in the Senate. He also is a strong environmentalist. I like Hilary, but I also like Feingold. I will choose my favorite in the primary, but will vote for the democrat that the majority want. I will also work my buns off. The US and the world can not survive another PUG.

20. Feingold is one of our best Senators

unfortunately I don't think that he is any more electable than Hillary. Being a twice-divorced secular liberal Jew will not help his chances (with Lieberman he was at the bottom of the ticket and he was religiously observant, whereas Feingold will be smeared with the "anti-religion" brush.) Feingold is principled, but unfortunately he isn't a strong enough candidate to win. Don't get me wrong though, I will vote for him should he get the nomination and I won't have any problem supporting him in doing so, but when looking at who we run, we need someone who we agree with and who can receive the most votes.
