Maybe this is a hopeful sign!
So this morning, here I am tooling down the road, and I'm coming up behind this big truck with a huge flag thingie on the rear window (one of those custom jobs that makes the window essentially one-way), and I can see that he has a big red-white-&-blue bumper sticker. I'm pulling up behind him at the stoplight, sighing, preparing for my daily dose of freep bullshit, and then I see what the sticker says, in BIG BOLD LETTERS:

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS
BRING THEM HOME ALIVE!
STOP THE WAR NOW!

Now, that made my day. :-)

3. Wish I had, but he was in front of me
I'd have had to cut him off like a dog to do so, which wouldn't have seemed very friendly! ;-) I did notice it was an older gentleman. I'm choosing to take that as a positive sign!

4. I'm glad you brought up the "older gentleman" thing because........
....I live in an adult building with A LOT of WWII and Korean veterans who would "go back and fight again in a hot second if I had to". BUT right down to a man they absolutely loathe ****. One veteran went so far as to describe some of the "nicer things" he had "watched the Japs do to prisoners of war" and then added "even that would be too good for ****." I was :wow: - it took a few seconds to pick my jaw up off the floor.

5. If your neighbors are like my husband,
then they are sickened by what is now being done to America's image internationally. We used to be respected, admired, emulated. Now we're feared and hated. We have the reputation of being warmongers, torturers, fascists.

I have a collection of movies about the space race - The Right Stuff, The Dish, October Sky, Apollo 13, stuff like that - and anymore, it's too painful to watch the real footage - the footage from an era when we were a great country, not run by a cabal of cheap, lying, murdering neocon oligarchs.
