2. I asked the same thing! It'll be the next 'black hoodie"!
I saw one site had them for about $200, expect knock-offs to get cheaper.

3. Try Cinema Secrets in Burbank. They usually are first with affordable
masks.

24. Thanks. I'm also going to check the Noble Collection, but their
stuff is usually very pricey. I was thinking the mask would make a great item.

4. I'm with you there, it was FAR from what I expected...
I was expecting a blow 'em up Hero flick like Judge Dredd (which absolutely sucked eggs) or something like that. Whoa, was I wrong. The movie is steeped with politics and social commentary reflecting on our time right now and the results of the politicians actions of today.

I was thoroughly impressed. What an ending. Great flick.

8. Do you think they would hunt us down and lock us up if we started
a "V" movement? Wouldn't be wonderful to see "V" insignia instead of yellow ribbon magnets on cars. And wouldn't it be great to view a sea of "V" masks at the next peace protest or Sheehan protest? It would be a great way to force some of the red-staters to go see the movie if they just saw the insignia and asked what it meant. The answer by saying, "You have to see the movie before I can discuss it with you."

7. I've been looking for one myself...
Trying to get something decent under $100 is a challenge though. Perhaps waiting a few weeks after the initial release will help (though perhaps maybe hopefully not if the movie picks up steam at the box office like the original Matrix did).

It seems like they have a lot of cheaper "hand masks" with a handle underneath. I think most folks though want the full mask that doesn't require one to use their hands with it to have it on their head.

Ebay has a bunch of masks. You can get a cheap hand mask here for $19.99 plus $3.99 shipping:

9. Maybe some enterprising DUer (with cash) will start a company
and make the masks. They probably should also make the body armor that we will need when wearing the mask.

11. I think there would be a copyright issue here...
I really hope though that we don't just have "Wondercon" exclusive masks out later. Kinda defeats the purpose the film was trying to sell us about everyone participating, not just the well off.

It would be good if they released at least some reasonably decent quality masks (don't have to be the professional quality) that we can wear out in protest marches, etc. Would be nice to have a costume available too.

18. Ebert said the original comics were swiping at Thatcher.
They were done in the 80s. Of course, she and Ronnie started us on the road to ruin, so the allegory is the same.

19. I want a mask, also!
I saw the movie last night, and, although it was far from one of the best movies I have ever seen, it had a great impact. Talk about a timely movie. It's a wonder the Bush administration hasn't banned it. I hope it is a huge box office success!

21. Go to IMDB and vote it!
go to www.imdb.com (direct link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434409/) and vote it.

It's doing well but, if you look at the last dozens of posts it's been overrun by disgusted republicans (like "P for Propaganda" - muhahahhaha! )that are voting against it!

Go vote and post positive comments! Many people look on imdb to see how a movie is rated, peoples-wise (not critics-wise)...

30. Just got back....
OMG even with all the hype on DU I was still blown away by this movie. Just incredible. Best film I've seen in quite awhile. They were talking about "Lark Hill" and all I could think about was the new "detention center" Halliburton is building. Not only that but after the Shrub's statement today that the Iraq war will go on long after he's finished with his term, yikes, did this movie seem prophetic or what? Great performances, beautiful art direction and cinematography, and a truly genius script. Too bad Hollywood so screwed up Alan Moore's other works that he has written off movies, I think he might have actually liked this one....

33. I just got back.
I really loved it. At first I was dismayed because I thought it was going to be a teen-age boy, comic book yawner.

It wasn't.

It was uplifting and infuriating and it made me cry in places.

Love how the Karl Rove-ish and Rush Limbaugh-ish creatures get what they so richly deserved.
