I love DU, it is a wonderful place to hang out and shoot the breeze and let off steam.

Now my Question:

How much do you really think things will change if we win a majority in Congress and the White house?
I guess - from reading here so much, I see a lot of bush enablers in the party. People we put into
power afraid, perhaps, to make a stand on what is right versus what is expedient.

If we win it all - will it all really change or does corporate america and the defense industry
own us so deeply that dems will make a few minor changes and just coast by?

We can and will win - what do you hope we will accomplish in the first 100 days of a new congress and presidency?

11. You know what is sad though about what you said:

Corporate America and the defense industry have dollars - but we have votes, far more than they do.

It is a damn shame people are taken in by big dollar advertising by these folks. I guess in many ways we have a lazy group of voters - and that is more a threat to our way of life than any terrorist.

We need a war alright, one against ignorance. But don't see any politician jumping up any time soon on this...

2. I'm in love with Buster!

3. He is only 8 lbs and spends 8 hours a day barking at a tree

and running around it in circles.

He is somewhat of a legend around here for that. As soon as he is let outside he runs to his tree (a large elm) and runs around it barking. He can smell the squirrels in it. He hesistates when I try to get him to come in. He will come towards the house while looking over his shoulder at the tree.

few people believe it until they see it, how he can go for hours at a time, usually 6-8, running in circles around that tree biting at it, jumping up high and hanging onto the bark. He never gives up.

At night he burrows under the blankets and sleeps against me for warmth. He is a sweetie (but will rush after bailey if she goes near his tree!).

yesterday he drug a piece of pizza out of the trash. Took a bite of it, then pee'd on it so no one else would want it, then ran back to his tree :)

Everyone at the bank knows who buster is now.

A high level guy came to my house for a party (we were celebrating a major event) and was astounded at buster and his tree. Every conference call we are on now he brings it up - especially if I am working from home and he can hear him out back barking at the tree.

We still have not figured out what we would do if we move or decide to tear down the big tree. It seems that is what he lives for. if we say the word 'outside' he erupts into barking and dancing until we let him out to attack that evil tree.

We found a mansion we wanted to buy (cheap too, see link below) and one thing the wife and I both discussed was what would buster do. Amazing how such a small animal can make such a big impact on you.

5. Awesome house!

At that price, though, I'm reminded of "The Money Pit." I can just see one of the "weak trees" in the yard falling down while Buster is pawing on it.

6. It does need some work

But overall is in awesome shape with a huge yard.

I would give most anything to have the credit to get it, but - such is life. I make the dough, just don't have the backing. It is our dream house. Guess it will stay there - in dreams.

I love big old houses too. I would even live in a house like that one in "Fight Club." Houses like that have history and are characters in their own right.

8. The people locally would help fix it up for free

Inmates and boy scouts have already worked on first floor, and many people would come help out if someone would buy it.

So I am playing the lotto again this week :)

Absolutely committed to his mission, even if, in the larger picture, it's divorced from reality.

I have two dogs, half dachshund and half spaniel, beautiful dogs and smart, as well as seven cats, which number will rise sharply in a month or so, on a little twenty acre farm. They are good company and keep the place ridded up of mice and moles. Thanks for the pics.

It will take a generation--or maybe as much as a hundred years to ameliorate the damage these gangsters have wrought. If we retake both houses, we have to then get really loud and continue to make sure to encourage leaders to speak out, heal the sick, raise the dead, go back to reality based thinking, demand the truth and remove the very idea of "spin" from the language.

Both houses going dem would give us two years ( undeniably a very short time) to show at least some results, virtually guaranteeing a dem or independent pres in '08.
More than once, in the past, both congress and the executive have been in dem hands without this kind of calamity and we can do even better--much, much better!

He would probably do a damned sight better than some in office now.

Sadly I think you are right - it will take many years for things now wrought to be fixed, I just hope with the right party in power the ball will get rolling in the right directional swiftly.
