Poll question: What is the most disturbing thing * said today? And why.
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 11:32 AM by MyPetRock
Paraphrasing, I can't remember the exact quotes.

1. "Let's see here, they told me what to say."
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 11:34 AM by ShortnFiery
I heard * say that LIVE. My eyes almost popped out of my head and my chin dropped to the floor.

He's losing it!

What's tragic is all the fear that we have will not ALLOW those in power to say ENOUGH!

It does no good to claim the obvious, "The Emperor has lost his mind."

10. What's most disturbing to me is that gaff ...
is one of the ultimate "No nos" in politics. His lack of composure is a reflection of ARROGANCE beyond most people's comprehension.

I honestly believe that * considers himself a King.

For example, notice that he never alluded to the process of WORKING WITH congress? Rather that he condescendingly admitted that he merely APPRECIATED congress providing SUGGESTIONS.

* doesn't care about ANYONE. In his mind, he is the ruler of the world. YIKES! :scared:

3. "He (Saddam) didn't let the inspectors in"
By far the most damaging and an obvious lie, easily debunked in about five minutes.

The level of this man's incompetence, including his inability to even spin credibly, is horrifying.

9. He says the US will succeed in Iraq, but doesn't say what "succeed" means
He won't answer what he's trying to accomplish. WHen Helen Thomas asked him why we were even there, he wouldn't answer her. But we will WIN, DAMNIT!! We'll just tell us when we've won so we'll understand the withdrawal, I guess.

11. I want to know who is "they"
All of us here know the answer, but I want a reporter to ask it. "Who is 'they' Mr. President? Who tells YOU--the President of the Untied States--what to say? And how long have 'they' been telling you what to say and do 'they' also tell what to do?"

when he tried to turn the impeachment issue around
to "i don't see any democrats saying to repeal the patriot act" (paraphrased)

One.. he's a total DICK for trying a cheap semantic stunt like that...
once again proving the man is scum and has no integrity at all.

and TWO... his answer has NOTHING to do with the issue.
Democrats don't want to repeal any laws...
THEY WANT THE F'N PRESIDENT TO STOP BREAKING THE LAW.

What part of that does he not understand ???!!!

This man needs to be impeached and imprisoned.
He's a danger to society and the world.
Enough is enough !!!!

(oh dear.. I'm yelling again :-o

14. Did he really say "Withdrawal will be for future presidents to decide"?!
That's what another thread above says.

If he did, I can't imagine any statement topping this one.

He said Presidents of Iraq to decide. Which is 10 times worse. What an ultra-maroon.

... Iraq going to have a "future president"? And will they decide to "ask" us to withdraw? Or will they just do what they're told?

He might as well have said "whenever" and shrugged.

22. Actually, having read the actual quote, I disagree.
It looks to me like he meant future presidents of the U.S.

From Reuters (http://today.reuters.com/news/NewsArticle.aspx?type=topNews&storyID=2006-03-21T160411Z_01_N21215697_RTRUKOT_0_TEXT0.xml&related=true&src=cms):
Asked about full troop withdrawal from Iraq, Bush told a news conference: "That of course is an objective and that will be decided by future presidents and future governments of Iraq."

Grammatically, that could mean either. But it most directly means A) "future presidents" AND B) "future governments of Iraq". Otherwise, he would have said "future presidents and governments of Iraq". Besides, he would have no reason to differentiate between future presidents of Iraq and future governments of Iraq. The principle is the same.

Not that he's a master of grammar. But I think his meaining was clear: he's not going to make that decision; he's going to leave it up to his successor or successors.

25. From a Purely Political Standpoint, I Would Rather It Be Read...
as future Presidents of Iraq because it's worse than leaving the decision up to someone more competent than him. His base, being the guardians of intellectual honesty that they are, should also be foaming at a comment like that. You know, letting feriners make national security policy for the US and such.

15. Nuke - U - Ler

He said it several times.

It disturbs me that the (alleged) leader of the most powerful nation the world has ever seen, the (alleged) leader who always has the "football" at his side, can't even pronounce the word "nuclear".

17. Other...."that's for future presidents to handle"....
when asked about total withdrawal. Tried to backpedal a bit, but basically said we're definitely in there for the duration of his term in office.

He finally admits that there were some 'adjustments in strategy and tactics.' How about just a basic "We fucked up?"

18. Withdrawal Will Be for Future Presidents to Decide
While we know at DU that they built permanent bases and plan to stay forever, most people didn't.

Now they are going public with it, and there's nary a peep from the media.
