Actually the most moving talk I have heard in some time

1. seems like all he is really doing is promoting the idea of american

exceptionalism, which I don't subscribe to.

He's acting as if the current administration is an anomaly, which it is not.

2. What I took away from this is not so much an idea of exceptionalism

but an ideal I have had in my entire life, that America truly had ideals that we lived up to, that we attempted to do so because our democratic principles that we fought for. If I personally didn't believe this, and believe that we have failed as a country, due particularly right now because of this administration, I wouldn't be trying to hard to get back to a populist view.

I also don't think he's acting like this administration is an anomalie. He mentioned the fact that it isn't as if the US hasn't made mistakes.
