Helen Thomas just SERVED Leslie Blitzer on CNN!
by EasternOkie
Tue Mar 21, 2006 at 03:36:27 PM PDT

It was the best minute in TV since this morning when Helen embarrassed the President by asking why he planed to invade Iraq even before 9/11. Leslie (aka Wolf) had Helen on to talk down to her about her questions to Bush earlier today. For some strange reason Leslie asked Helen why she thought the US invaded Iraq. Helen gestured toward Les (is our boy Les a neocon?) and said, (paraphrase) "Well because of the neocons at the Project for a New American Century (PNAC). Their plan was to invade first Iraq, then Syria, then Iran."

Les interrupted with some irrelevancy about all the 9/11 dead, and Helen leaned toward him and said, "They had nothing to do with each other...."

Then Helen said to Leslie, "Come home, you'll be welcomed."

(it gets better below)

EasternOkie's diary :: ::
But the best part was as she continued, "You and I were at the WH together and you used to ask tough questions. You asked Clinton why he didn't resign." Les was perturbed, cut her off and said,"That was a different time" and went to commercial.

50. Blitzer used to work for Pat Robertson's CBN
""...But it’s sort of strange to realize that Pat and Wolf Blitzer go way back together. Yep! Wolf used to work for Pat Robertson's CBN way back when Pat was setting up his news bureau and Wolf was the 700 Club’s reporter from the Middle East. He was a lot younger in those days, but in those beginning days Pat exposed Wolf Blitzer to a viewing audience that topped the Nielsen ratings at 28.7 million monthly viewers! That’s a great way to launch one’s career. But Wolf Blitzer likes to keep that part of his career kind of quiet. He doesn’t list the 700 Club’s news bureau in his biography. He doesn’t tell CNN’s audience that Pat was like an angel to him when he was just an independent reporter starting out. But those of us who watched Pat’s show could never forget Wolf Blitzer’s reports. He was presented to us as such an expert—we were just so proud of him! And look how high he’s gone. You’d think he’d give Pat a little credit. No doubt he says “Thanks” by inviting him on CNN!""

So, the question David Corn asked, 'why does CNN invite Robertson on to talk' keeps coming back to us. The MSM doesn't seem to respond and we're thrown back to our yuricareport.com source material in the end. Why don't the CNN or CBN employers confirm or deny ? Or Blitzer himself ?

Whenever someone talks about Blitzer being on CBN, this EXACT article (of which the credibility is questionable) is always the root of the claim. I'm asking for another source.

Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 12:04 PM by onenote
Could be true, but the report doesn't even give the dates when Blitzer supposedly worked for the 700 Club. The bios I've seen say Blitzer graduated college in 1970 and started working for Reuters in Tel Aviv in 1972, before returning to the states in 1975 to be the Washington correspondent for the Jerusalem Post. I suppose he could've been working for Robertson in 71, but I'd like to see some further evidence.

PS - I'm glad that Helen laid a smack down on Blitzer. He's earned it.

Outside of Obermann .... I find them disgusting. They spend more time
trying to protect their corporate bosses and powers that be then really reporting
the news. Ever since 11/3/04 when CNN pull the exit polls @ 2:00 AM and replaced
them w/ phony ones .... I can't stand CNN (except for a few reporters and Crusty old

Helen was actually much tougher than OP suggests. When Helen mentioned that Bush planned to invade all along, and he it is all spelled out in the PNAC documents, Wolfie tried the old chestnut "But what about what happened on 9/11 when we were attacked..." and Helen interupted him point blank saying "But were not attacked by Iraq. Why not just bomb anybody?"

Wolf shut up. *Gulp*

My paraphrasing still isn't as powerful as the real thing. It was awesome.

Randi Rhodes is on Lou Dobbs now...cool!

35. Thank goodness for people like Helen Thomas who aren't afraid
to ask the tough questions. And there are certainly a lot of tough questions that need to be asked. Today's mainstream media does such a poor job covering the news, and the Repugs have managed to package the entire media into a "liberal" category, which by default means it favors the Democrats, but we all know it really doesn't.

So many people close to me are lifelong die hard Repugs, and they all think the news leans to the left, and that the stories that are negative to the Republicans and/or Bush have been "created" that way. They don't seem to understand they are getting the whitewashed version of those stories, with the dirty, grizzly facts conveniently scrubbed clean.

Helen Thomas has a good reputation in media circles, and a name that has high recognition value among the population. I'm glad she's asking the tough questions, because I think people know she seeks out the truth when doing her job.

69. As Calamity Jane said...
"I don't drink where I'm the only fuckin' one with balls!"

(Pardon my French--this quotation is from "Deadwood.")

59. "My goals are to seek the truth
wherever it leads me and I do think that's the goal of journalists and I do think we fell down on the job"..

Wolfie waffled bad in his response. "That was another time and this is another story" is a cop out. He was face to face with a real journalist and in that one sentence proved he was a corporate media whore. He's not worht of being in Helen Thomas's presence.

The video is on canofun.com if you want to get sick.

It’s scary to hear someone carry-on like Pat. But it’s sort of strange to realize that Pat and Wolf Blitzer go way back together. No doubt he says “Thanks” by inviting him on CNN!

Sellout Blitzer

He exchanged a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage. How does someone like that look themselves in the mirror?

73. My republican husband was blown away by Ms. Thomas!
He walked in the door (he listens to CNN on his satellite radio)last night and asked me if I knew who Helen Thomas was...LMAO I said Yes I do, she's an amazing journalist who speaks the truth. Then he says, she's got balls, she made up w/ Bush and then hits him w/ some amazing questions. I said Yep, that's Helen!!!
