Here's how we save our democracy:
1) A single six year term for president.
2) Abolish the electoral college.
3) Establish an independent commission every 10 years to redraw voting districts according to population shifts as indicated by the federal census results. We need more competitive political contests!
4) A vote of 'none of the above'.
5) A secure internet based voting system and one full week to vote.
6) Or, make election day a holiday.
7) Don't register to vote, no driver's license renewal!

2. I used to think "none of the above" was a great idea
But if we'd had it last time, it would have split the Dem vote, and probably always will. Repukes will vote for their candidate come hell or high water.

mandatory manual recounts that kick in if the percentage of the win is lower than a certain number.

Edited for amusing typo.

7. First, we have to RESTORE our right to vote!

Two rightwing Bushite corporations--Diebold and ES&S--'counted' 80% of the nation's votes in 2004, using "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code, with virtually no audit/recount controls--an "election" system brought to you by the two biggest crooks in Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney, during the 2001-2004 period, as a result of the "Help America Vote Act" electronic voting boondoggle.

Bob Koehler (-- four recent election reform initiatives in Ohio, predicted to win by 60/40 votes, flipped over, on election day, into 60/40 LOSSES!--the biggest flipover we've seen yet; the election theft machines and their masters are now dictating election policy!)
