Gergen: Praise Bush for taking questions from an "unscripted audience"
He's on the Newshour and he just said that Bush deserves praise for holding a press conference today and for taking questions yesterday from an "unscripted audience."

Unfreakingbelievable.

They have two spinners on, Gergen and David Frum, plus one college professor, who I guess is supposed to be the liberal. They won't let her talk and they lost her video feed for most of the segment anyway.

4. HA! That's not what Little Lord Pissypants thinks.
He's revels in the fact that no one has the guts to stand up to him. Didn't he say that today in his PC?

13. It reminds me of the David Cross comment:
that we have a president who is treated like the presidency is the special Olympics:

You showed up? That's really good, George. Good, buddy.

3. I disagree with you. I think Shrub took the questions today
and to a degree, yesterday, because somebody TLD him, you HAVE to get your a** out there yourself! You can't continually depend on Scotty to do it for you.

To that degree, I say it's good he finally got his butt out there.

Gergen also said he didn't do a very good job at it!

5. disagree with what?
I'm saying it's ABSURD that the president has scripted audiences at all - it's outrageous - and to PRAISE him for doing what was perfectly NORMAL for every previous president is ridiculous.

11. You're right that he should have done this all along, but he didn't!
I guess praise is the wrong word. Perhapse "better than usual" would be better.

I still think it's funny that every time he does speak to reporters, he screws up!

I'd love to be behind the scenes to hear just what to do say to idiot son! And see him say "Oh, I Promise I'll do better THIS TIME!

12. Oh I'm sure he can't tolerate anything but praise after a PC
Or any time, for that matter. I'm sure the praise his socks off all day long, he's such a little narcissist.

Yeah, it was the phrasing, that Gergen said he "deserves praise" - it's just absurd. It's like saying someone deserves praise because he didn't beat his wife yesterday, for a change.

7. I used to think that the bar was set two inches
above ground for this incompetent. In fact, the bar is buried 6 feet under. It is no where in sight. The president of the United States getting praise for not answering planted questions - these pundits are nothing but clowns.

8. That sounds like a left handed compliment
I don't know if Gergen meant it that way.

9. Since when should someone be praised for
doing what just comes with the territory? (Or rather, what USED to come with the territory before Shrubby moved into the WH).

10. Just keep lowering the bar
Next, they will be praising him for not drooling or shitting his pants or screaming cuss words spontaneously while giving a press conference
