was a clear indication that he has lost control or they have lost control of him. This self-deprecating aspect juxtaposed with aggressive barbs is very bad form. I think he loves the power , and he sees his power going away as his popularity plummets. He had a good game going until people started to see he was cheating to win. He likes the power and what he can do with it - but he hates being questioned or second-quessed. He doesn't think anyone has that right.

Besides, he really does think he knows best.

Bush really does believe his every action is above reproach by anyone - and he only tolerates it from those he considers his equal.

"The people", Congress, and the Press are not among those he counts as equals.

He affects me as an inherently lazy guy. His pattern in life is just being handed opportunities--he's not accustomed to having to exert any effort to accomplish.

Someone like this, in my opinion would definitely be weary or running out of fizz as you put it.

He digs being the big chief in the opportunities it affords him, the power the ability to do anything in his mind. He dislikes and is probably more than sick of the responsibility that comes with it. He's not at all used to suffering the repercussions of his actions, as we've seen in his history. He seems to very much be the guy that relishes having fall guys and clean up crews--other people to deal with the aftermath.

As he's seeing that people are holding him accountable, it's merely pissing him off. He gets petulant when continually questioned, because he doesn't see that he's done anything wrong--and besides, it's not his job to clean up his own mess. Seriously. This is how he seems to think.

I really see his as tired of the gig. He may relish the power and glory, in the good times but dislikes and is sick of the other side of it--the hard work, the bad reviews, the questions and the responsibility and aftermath of what he's done.

It kind of tickles me to see him melting down before our eyes this way.

It's been about the last 4 or 5 months I would guess. He talks like he's dead tired and sick of going through the motions. I don't know if he realizes how far he is in over his head or to what degree he has allowed the vile Vice President Dick to essentially run the country. Just how clueless is this doofus, anyway? Sheesh.

It's almost sad to hear how wistful he sounds talking about his beloved "ruggie". It belongs in the Oval Office. He doesn't.

I totally agree, wildeyed! He is competitive--he likes to win. I just don't think he knew what he was getting into. But he did seem to take pleasure in the whole thing. He also seemed to NEED to win. Like he had something to prove.

I remember during 2000, the recount and all of the mess that ensued. Everytime * was interviewed or asked for an opinion on the race, he was so calm and would say so arrogantly,"...I KNOW that I won Florida." That was when I knew the fix was in.

This is merely my belief, but I think behind the scenes Rove and Cheney assured him there would always be someone else to "deal with" things. They underestimated the backlash from everything...
