VIDEO: Nightline trashes the "you only report the bad stuff" talking point

OK, that's the comedy. Now for the tragedy.

While the filming was ongoing, word came that the show's producer had just been killed.

So Nightline's crew went out to do a "good news" story. But, like so many other stories, it ends with another bloody killing.

BULLSHIT about that "reporting from the balcony" nonsense...and they are showing clips of stuff they held back, because they didn't want to be "too negative."

husband the military journalist just got back from Iraq, and has great B ROLL that the "networks will not show" this issue will probably be elevated (first of all, I would say to that dearie, that the B roll that guy shot is not HIS, it belongs to DOD, and secondly, they probably already offered it up, and the cables/networks looked at it as s-h-i-t...if it was such great footage, Armed Forces TV would have grabbed it!).

I feel so bad for the people of Iraq. I also feel badly for our military people serving under this disgusting regime. There is nothing good about the situation for anyone.

5. I saw similar stuff on the Today show today.

I mean, how silly is that? The Today show now calling bullshit on the "it's the media's fault" whining.

They did a "day in the life of a reporter in Iraq" piece. Don't remember the guy's name, but they showed footage of a "good news" story (something about a school I think?) being interrupted by an explosion. He also said something along the lines of "if good things are happening there, it's too dangerous to travel to them".

Then an interview with Tim Russert who said (paraphrasing) "Remember the statue coming down? Remember the inky thumbs on election day? We report the good stuff, there's just not much of it." The phrase "kill the messenger" came up at least once.

And this was on The Today Show! If ever there was a fluff news program...

... that the press has finally had it with George Bush and his band of morons. If these sorry assed mofos think the media has been tough on them so far, they have NO IDEA how bad it can get.

We might start getting some actual truth from Iraq. We might get a media focusing on the huge number of journalists who have been KILLED reporting from the balcony.

This is going to get good, I can feel it :)
