Jimmy Carter. If you haven't read his book, Our Endangered Values, you really should pick up a copy. For me, this will be one of those "set a book free" books when it comes out in paperback. It is the most sober, deliberate and rational condemnation of the religious and political far right I have yet to run across. He pulls no punches and flat out states the U.S. Supreme Court elected GWBush in a partisan vote. Go Jimmy!

12. I've been to his Sunday School class in Plains

And stayed for the service afterwards. It shows me just what the fundies don't understand. President Carter's church truly believes and teaches the tolerance and love that Christ taught for your fellow man. I don't consider myself to be a religious person, or even a spiritual person, but if all churches and supposed Christians were like this, I'd have no problem with them and would probably go because the people of his church "get it."

Then you get to have your picture taken with him. I love JC and I'm actually touching his back :)

His take on the rise of fundamentalisn, both abroad and here, is spot on. As stated, he pulls absolutely no punches in sticking it to the current administration in a truly educated way.

It is so clearly written. He gets to his point immediately; doesn't overuse language. If all political books were written this clearly, I could read 3 a week.

I haven't read his book, but I think he mentioned on Larry King that he strongly supports stem cell research, too. (According to him that is a very Christian thing to do...quite the opposite of what Bush believes.)

Are Carter's views about stem cell research in his book?
