I think maybe the word Podcast intimidates people, as if it's something technically beyond a person's ken. So, instead, consider this: You have a computer. You have a microphone attached to the computer. You have software on your computer that lets you record your voice, edit it (in case your dog barks and you need a do-over) and save it as an audio file. That's it.

I've read some excellent posts on this board that are well-thought out, proffer a particular opinion, and ought to be shared for a wider audience. In my opinion, one way to do that is through podcasts (MP3's). The files are usually pretty small, so you can save them on your webpage of your ISP, and share the link. People who have Ipods or other music downloaders can download your podcast and hear it while they're doing something else.
