Run Forrest Bush Run...(from sea to shining sea)...at our expense!
Edited on Thu Mar-23-06 09:07 AM by Hubert Flottz
Iraq is like a box of hot chocolate and Bush is much like the proverbial box of rocks, when it comes to firing neurons in the vast vacuum of his privileged, substandard, cranial cavity! Carl Sagan could have found the black hole, right there between our ruling Prince of Primate's, essentially nonfunctional, useless, little chimpish ears. If our fearful misleader had a brain, he would not only take it out and play with it, but he would probably frag the frigging thing like he fragged the froggies, way back there in his carefree, youthful, daze. So he thinks he can come to West Bye Gawd Virginia and be amongst some mentally challenged hillbillies and kind of blend in and bond with his fellow slack jawed yokels.

Well he may have gotten away with play acting to a bussed in crowd of faithful, flatlander, GOP, sheep, that he and Karl had dragged in and corralled in Wheeling. A purely partisan crowd, of Chamber of Commerce corporate lapdogs and the usual herd of mega-flunky career soldiers and their beholden to the government families, who grin and smile, simply because they don't want drummed out of the service. I hardly think though, that his little daytime drama like show, would have had such a happy ending, in the little towns across our fair state where the jobless rate has gone through the roof in the past six years. He wouldn't get such a grand reception in places like Logan, Madison, or Sago, where due to his cutting back on federal mine inspectors, so that he could give his rich friends four tax cuts, that the pitiable families are still sadly stinging and weeping, over the recent loss of their breadwinning loved ones, who had all their lives worked so damned hard, in those horrid, cold, dark, dripping, hellish, pits and called those jobs, "GOOD JOBS." (14 miners dead in WV, in the first six weeks of this year)

I've heard GOPers like WV's rep in the US House, Shelly Moore Capito stand up and say on TV, that "Coal Miners and construction workers, don't deserve the kind of money they make!" That is why people like Shelly Capito, BushCo serving, lockstepper, gets booed off the stage at places like the Boone County pool, fourth of July picnic, back in 2004, when she tried to speak to the crowd of miner's families, and steal some thunder at the John Kerry rally that day. She stole thunder alright, because the boos were thunderous as they should be for the GOP in West Virginia.

Why pick on us, you big feeling, idiotic, mo?her f?cker? Haven't you screwed the people in this state enough already, you black hearted, arrogant, smirking, bee-boping, bobble headed, spoiled, thug? What do you want...BLOOD?(stupid question to ask a blood sucking fool, right?)

1. OK Hubert, hold my hand and take deep breaths
I give that rant a 9.5!

I'm sure you're thinking about the annual UMWA Labor Day celebration at the John Slack Park in Racine, West Virginia.

http://www.pww.org/article/view/5747/1/231/

I was there in 2004 to help boo her off the stage. I ride my Harley to the event every year, weather permitting. That's what she gets for showing her face at this traditionally Democrat-only rally. I asked some of the UMWA members who let her in. One of them said they agreed to let her speak because she had help direct funding to the Black Lung Disability Trust Fund.

I wonder if she'll be there this year. I will be.

7. BTW, thanks for the link the article brings back fond memiories...
Labor Day rally jams W.Va. country roads

"UMWA President Cecil Roberts presented Kerry with a shotgun made by UMWA members and called on West Virginia voters to look beyond Bush photo-ops. The Republicans “are pretty good at raising the Bible, pointing the Bible at us,” said Roberts. “But you know what we do in the Democratic Party? We open it up and see what it says.”

Retired miner Stan Kenny spoke for the cheering crowd. “They talk about Kerry being a ‘flip-flop,’” he said. “That’s what Bush is. He put the steel tariffs in for workers like myself and then threw them out for his friends in big business.”

Boos greeted Republican Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, who is running for re-election. She left early. Eric Wells, the Democratic candidate for that seat, was not present, but issued a press release saying that the crowd’s reaction indicates that Capito is “just not a friend of working families and they know it.”

Workers, 50,000 strong, jammed Charleston’s riverfront on Labor Day for a seven-hour rally and music celebration. United Steelworkers of America President Leo Gerard blasted the Bush job record." ...More

13. Yes I heard him fire up the crowd a couple of times! He's Great!
So is Richard Trumka! Both are dynamic warm up speakers! Some of the union leaders need to run for political offices. Those two would be hard to beat.

This old guy here wasn't bad either. This is a hell of a story!

Growing Up on Cabin Creek

An Interview with Arnold Miller

While coal miners fought to build their union, John L. Lewis built his own dictatorial machine to control it. Iron rule served the United Mine Workers of America reasonably well during the presidency of Lewis himself, a brilliant leader venerated by his membership. But the faulty legacy of the Lewis years became quickly apparent when he left the union to corrupt henchmen nurtured under his regime. Thus the final culmination of the fight for labor democracy came decades after the Mine Wars, as southern West Virginians joined their union brothers in a struggle to reform the UMWA. Ironically, the national leader that emerged to carry them to victory in 1972 was Arnold Miller, a son of Cabin Creek in the heart of the old Mine Wars country.

This 1981 interview discusses Miller's formative years in a community saturated with Mine Wars lore, bringing him to the eve of the union reform era. MORE...

I've posted this link on DU before, but this is a good review of how the corporations were before FDR and it's where the corporations want to drag us back to again.
