I supported invading Afghanistan but not Iraq.

I'm not for banning handguns.

I'm for the right to abortion for all 9 months but not taxpayer funded.

But I hate the cowardly idiot Little Lord Pissypants.

I'll DEFINITELY vote for Hillary or any other Democrat who gets called "establishment" around here over ANY REPUKE in 2008. I think people who won't are thumbsucking bedwetters.

Am I the Democratic Base or is that the thumbsucking bedwetters?

1. I'll vote for Hillary, but she'll lose
I'm not ultra liberal either. I am liberal. I am progressive. I am the base. And I am loyal to Democrats.

But Hillary is a horrible candidate.

Instead of "staying home"

3. While I agree with most of what you say...
Calling others "thumbsucking bedwetters" seems to me continuing the infighting that puts our energies in check when we need them the most - which at this momsent has nothing to do with an election 3 years away, and everything to do with trying to take over at least one side of Congerss in order to slow down the damage of jr's policies, and to start real investigations into the multitude of bad-faith actions of the past 5 yrs of jrs administration.

You ARE the base among Democrats in general.
Among activists? No way, as far as most of them are concerned you're a freeper wannabe. It's sad, but true.

And as I'm not part of the base, I'm more than likely not going to vote at all in the next presidential election.

23. Considering the enormity of the threats to our basic civil liberties and
the dangers of a total theocratic takeover of this country, I simply can't understand how anyone could sit at home because Democratic nominee was imperfect. You have a right to your feelings and your opinion, but I hope you're merely expressing your distaste for the media forcing the myth of Hillary as the unstoppable nominee.

If we can't find common ground in 2008, imagine the country in 2016 after 3 more years of Bush and 8 years of McCain, Guiliani, Allen or Romney. I hope you will see things a bit differently when it really matters-early November, 2008.

But I'm sick of just giving my vote to whomever they happen to fund that year.

29. "Southpark" put it best.
Remember the episode where they had to vote on the school mascot? And their choice was between voting for a douchebag and a shit sandwich?

You are ALWAYS going to have two candidates, one that is bad and one that is less bad. One of those two candiates will win. That's just the nature of the beast. So if you're liberal at all, suck it up and vote for the Democrat, even if the Democrat's a douchebag, because the OTHER candidate is always worse.

Sorry, but that's where I am right now. I'll vote in state and local elections, of course, but I'm so over the Democrats in Washington right now, I have no desire to support them in any way.

10. What's your problem with taxpayer funded abortion?
I could understand having a problem with abortion. But I don't understand having a problem with specifically taxpayer funded abortion. I'm guessing that taxpayer funded abortions are for people who qualify for welfare or Medicaid. So legal abortions are only for those who can afford them.

31. No wonder I spend so much time
establishing rules of common courtesy, like "no name calling," in my classroom. If only adults could hold themselves to the same standards we teach children. :eyes:

I won't cast a vote for someone I can't support. I don't care what party they belong to. I always vote. ALWAYS. I take my vote seriously. I honor my right to vote, and the inherent responsibility that goes with it, by choosing the candidate I think is best for the job. If they "won't win," that's the mainstream "I'll hold my nose and vote for somebody I don't really care for, just so the one I hate more will lose" group's problem. If you want my vote, you can nominate someone I think deserves it, or whine all the way to the next election. Or just logically accept that the candidate chosen is going to gain votes in some areas, and lose them in others. Whose vote do you value? It's ok with me if you prefer the "centrist," "moderate," or other euphemism for a little to the right of center vote. Just don't expect many votes from the left, and don't whine when you don't get them.

I take my vote seriously enough not to be bullied into voting for less than the best.

The bullying does piss me off, though. My general reaction to a bully is to refuse to toe their line, on principle. A campaigner who uses bullying as a tactic to convince people to vote obediently, rather than thoughtfully, pretty much guarantees that my vote will go somewhere else.

I wonder if I'm the only voter who makes choices based on issues and record, and puts less preferred candidates on the "do not vote for" list because of obnoxious supporters' bully tactics? Ah, well. The "L" in front of "Wolf" says it all.

15. So you believe people on disability - SSI or SSDI -
Edited on Thu Mar-23-06 11:15 PM by ConsAreLiars
should be forced to carry a pregnancy to term even if it will kill the mother? And so on?

Interesting.

What other rights most "normal" people would regard as essential to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" do you think should be available only to those who have high enough earnings or inherited wealth? Why do you think some medical procedures should only be available to the rich? I assume you oppose extending other types of medical care to the poor. Want to list the other types of care you would deny the poor and disabled?

(edit typo)

21. And if your imaginary charities don't come through?
Just a rape or maybe a failure of birth control. Forced childbirth. In your world, the only people who have full rights are the rich. Nice. How about a 15 year old who relies on Medicaid? Same story, I guess.

What other forms of medical care do you believe should be denied the poor?

37. I'm way to the left
And realize I'm definitely not representing a very shifted-to-the-right base. One way you can tell is by saying that, those that are representing that shifted-to-the-right base will necessarily insist that they're shifted to the center, and not the right. Never underestimate the power of denial :)

However, as leftie as I am, I'm not a pacifist: never in favor of it, but realistic enough to know that sometimes violence is unavoidable.
