There are a few more questions at the bottom of the page which I didn't copy. These are hard to answer, because both media and B* have done lousy jobs, but the media IMHO, has not given the war an exaggeratedly negative response, like Cheney and B* are mouthing.

1. heavily freeped
Looks like the Rove strategy of blaming the media for "being negative" is in full force.
I've seen a few LTTE's that look like astro-turfing pushing the same crap.

4. astroturf
Yeah, I've caught our local paper printing a few LTTE's that were actually written by Repuke operatives. The dopes who send them in don't even bother to individualize them. The newspapers are often too lazy to check it out. A quick google search would expose them.
Standard Repuke ploy.

astroturfing: n.

1. The use of paid shills to create the impression of a popular movement, through means like letters to newspapers from soi-disant ‘concerned citizens’, paid opinion pieces, and the formation of grass-roots lobbying groups that are actually funded by a PR group (AstroTurf is fake grass; hence the term)

5. Thanks for the definition and explanation. The Republican Party
seems to have lost its soul on all levels! Another definition that you could supply me with perhaps,is for soi-disant. Funny coincidence! Just today, I read this word on the cover of an old book (The Paradoxes of Freedom), and didn't find it in the dictionary, and forgot about it. Strange you should use it in a post that defines another new word for me, 'astroturfing.'

8. soi-disant
"The Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.48"
Soi-disant \Soi`-di*sant"\ (sw"d<-e>`zN"), a. one's self + disant, p. pr. of dire to say.]
Self-named; self-styled; pretended; would-be.

"WordNet (r) 2.0"
soi-disant
adj : as claimed by and for yourself often without justification;
"the self-styled `doctor' has no degree of any kind"

I got this and the astroturf definition off the net. I have an extension for the firefox browser that lets you highlight a word and right click it and see a definition for that word. Really helpful.

11. Thanks so much! That is a helpful feature; alas, I don't have it. The
word soi is like moi? C'est moi? The sentence that it was used in is the following: "His trenchant dissection of the Southern doctrine of 'state's rights' is specially recommended to neo-conservatives and other soi-disant realists." You can see why I was interested in knowing the definition! Thanks again.

3. I don't see any questions after the one about reporters in Iraq.
Did they pull them down? Boy, that was fast!

7. "Poors" still on top.
But it could use a little help.

It is being heavily freeped. Too many "excellents" with regards to "information that Bush got before going to war."
(I'm heavily paraphrasing. Sorry I didn't copy/paste the question.)
