Woo woo check*** What are all the "echo clicks" on my computer?
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 04:21 AM by shance
I seem to have lots of echo clicks after and before I've clicked onto a website.

<sigh> I just had a computer friend clean through my computer and yet these clicks now have appeared and continue and then I have pop ups that mention stuff about my updates not being completed. I have NOD32 on my computer for virus protection.

Maybe I'm just being jiggy or.....(there it goes again)

Is it Agent Mike or secret NSA man? Or is it just a delayed reaction?

What's interesting is Ive also had the Microsoft sign off chime that indicates Im disconnecting occur when Im on line and not disconnecting.

Veddy, veddy strange.

And just in case its "Agent Mike", would you kindly TELL GEORGE AND KARL TO STOP IT!!************

1. In addition to your virus protection, do you also have these on your PC?
Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition
Spybot Search & Destroy
SpywareBlaster
CWShredder

They are necessary first-line-of-defense tools to prevent your PC from being invaded. Virus protection isn't everything.

If you already have and run all of these, you may want to consider HijackThis, a tool to examine your PC setup and.with assistance, remove any instances of "browser hijack".

3. Do you have a pro-active spyware program running?
I have the McAfee "suite", and my settings are so that it is constantly searching for spyware. I get the echo clicks as well but I know that they're McAfee searching and destroying spyware and spam. Could this be what you're referring to?

4. Don't know about the echo clicks
But the Microsoft sign off chime is just a matter of assignement. Got to Start, Control Panel, Sounds and reassign the sound.

The echo problem is probably somewhere in 'Sound Effects Manager' and there might be a sensitivity issue involved with your mouse. Actually, I've been through this problem before, but it was so many years ago I don't remember what the issue was, so, I'm sure it's nothing involving spyware, just another Microsoft glitch.
