U.S. Reps. Dennis Kucinich and Steve LaTourette want to create jobs and maintain the infrastructure with a $500 billion program they announced Tuesday afternoon.

With the Flats and Inner Belt Bridge as a backdrop, the congressmen said they've authored legislation that will make zero-interest loans to local governments across the country so they can fix or build bridges, roads, schools and water systems.

The program would make the money available over 10 years in $50 billion increments

1. The key point was that local gov'ts are at the limit of their bond-issuing
...capability and that the fed would step in and do more. Both those congress members do pretty good with bringing federal money back to Ohio. Especially Latourette. That's the source of his political power. No local Dem mayor is going to work for Latourette's opponent because they are bought. With your tax money. That you earned.

2. There's no money.........
bush is giving it all away to his Corporate pals who are stealing the country blind and in "tax breaks" for his "base". Add in the "war on terra'" and there isn't enough to pay the paper boy at the end of the week. The infrastructure of our country is going to seed but we have to have our priorities, you know? :grr:
