No more stalling on Iran: Rice
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, displaying impatience with slow UN talks on Iran's nuclear activities, warned "there can't be any stalling" in dealing with the potential threat.

"There is no time for delay in taking on this issue," Rice said of the discussions on a draft UN Security Council statement on Iran that have been snagged by objections from Russia and China.

"There can't be any stalling. The international community has got to act," the chief US diplomat told reporters after talks here with Greek Foreign Minister Theodora Bakoyannis.

Citing what she called an "erosion of confidence" in Iranian statements that its nuclear program was strictly peaceful, Rice again called for a united front to press Tehran to give up suspected plans to build a nuclear bomb.

on the commission to check pre-war intelligence. I can't believe that for one brief period in time around 1999 I actually somewhat admired that warmongering bitch

3. Sounds like they have the pieces in place for an attack and waiting costs
You just can't maintain that "attack" posture for very long. It's too trying both physically and psychologically.

I'm guessing this month's window has closed for them. But, then there is always "next" month.

5. Why doesn't she just go over to Iran and tell them that herself?
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 11:20 AM by NNN0LHI
She ain't scared is she? Perhaps we need someone as Secretary of State who isn't such a scardy cat when it comes to dealing with other governments?

7. Or WHAT! You're not gonna like em anymore....sheesh.
War with Iran is out of the question. Not only are we, the US, stretched too thin now but Russia and China will NOT sit idly by while we "do something" to Iran. Just STFU.

of Iran . . . or off of their resistance to sanctions which would foul their respective multi-billion dollar oil and nuclear deals

China repeats it in accord with Russia on Iran

A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry, Qin Gang, said President Hu Jintao and Putin discussed Iran during Putin's two-day visit.

"China and Russia exchanged views and both sides agreed the Iran nuclear issue should be resolved through diplomatic means," Qin told reporters.

Hu and Putin agreed that "all the related parties should display flexibility and patience", Qin added. "China supports Russia's active efforts to appropriately resolve the Iran nuclear issue."

Asked whether China and Russia would block the proposed U.N. statement on Iran, Qin said: "In making any actions or decisions the concerned parties should be focused on whether they truly help to reach a lasting resolution of the Iran nuclear issue, and whether they help the peace and stability of the region ... That is why we should give diplomacy more time and more space."

9. "The international community has got to act."
Well then, make'em. Or else what?

I'm starting to believe this is intentional posturing. Maybe the military realizes what a disaster it would be to be entangled in Iran and with that in mind, the politicians have empty rhetoric with the security that other nations won't help them with an attack.
