The latest survey released by SurveyUSA shows that Americans continue to lose confidence in their Republicans Senators. With Conrad Burns and Rick Santorum leading the pack, five of the Republicans facing strong Democratic challengers this November find themselves with approval ratings in the bottom fifth of the U.S. Senate. The following are the highlights of the latest survey:

Five Senate Republicans Facing Most Competitive 2006 Campaigns Are in Bottom Fifth of Net Approval Ratings.
Five of the GOP Senators facing the toughest re-election battles in November are in the bottom fifth of net job approval ratings. Sen. Conrad Burns has the lowest of all 100 Senators, with a -14% net approval rating. (Survey USA, 3/23/06)

Burns And Santorum Have the Two Highest Disapproval Ratings in the Senate.
A 52% disapproval rating for Conrad Burns and a 48% disapproval rating for Rick Santorum made them the most disliked Senators in the nation. Burns (#100) and Santorum (#98) also come in at the bottom of the pack of net approval ratings - Rick Santorum with a -5% net approval and Conrad Burns with a -14%. (Survey USA, 3/23/06)

Santorum? A ham sandwich could have beaten that guy. My guess is that women won't bother to vote in that race, and that will hurt the Democrats.

Yes, Santorum is disliked enough to lose his seat, but an antichoicer/woman hater is unlikely to hang onto it for long, and that means the pubbies will have it back with a Santorum clone.

What Democratic MEN need to realize is that women see no difference between a GOP woman hater and a Democrat woman hater. The result is the same.

9. That is a very extreme position to take and I don't feel its in keeping

with the spirit of our party. In fact, the voters of Pennsylvania seem to feel comfortable enough with his position given the fact he is holding an immense lead over Santorum. Bob Casey Jr is not the crusader on this issue that his father was and it likely is almost entirely irrelevant from a legal perspective as the fate of Roe v. Wade will not be decided by his vote, but rather by the next president through his appointments. If the next president is a Republican with a Republican Senate we will not be able to hold back his court appointments forever regardless whether or not PA's senate seat is occupied by a Pro-life or a Pro-choice candidate.

As it stands now, whether you like it or not, Casey will be the nominee of the PA Democratic Party and if enough people like you oppose him because of one issue, then we deserve Rick Santorum.

14. Progressive Dems will appose a pro choice Dem and you had better be

prepared to take the consequences of running an anti choice Dem. Yes we may get Santorum again but at least we will get the wolf in wolf's clothing rather than a wolf in lamb's clothing. Hell that is just like running two repubs in the same race. I would stay home before I would vote in that kind of election. My conscience does not permit me to vote for a anti choice candidate. So stop trying to threaten us into doing that!

The Democratic Party has always been centered around economic issues from the very beginning to this day. So you would rather have a vote against the minimum wage, against labor unions, against Social Security, against Medicare, against public education, etc than one for all of these traditionally liberal issues just to make a point? Look, I strongly oppose the death penalty. I think it is downright evil. However, I am not going to withdraw my vote from a Democratic candidate soley because of that issue.

by the polls, but there are two things to keep in mind.

First, there are more than seven months until the midterm elections, and

second: The results are not what the voters say they are, the results are what the Diebiold
electronic voting machines say they are. Until those numbers are identical, I am not optimistic.
