am totally psyched and feeling hopeful for a change. . .
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 02:19 PM by stellanoir
Having received a wonderful affirmation from Helen Thomas well over a week ago I just spent about 6 hours firing off my writing to 2 dozen progressive academics, journalists, and progressives from all sorts of sources.

Ms.Thomas had kindly responded to me with the following statement . . .

"Thanks, loved your piece; highly literary and inspiring; I'll give it a lot
of thought-helent"

That's all it took yet it took a while to assimilate. Though I've been doing this for nearly 5 months, and did hit a bit of a brick wall over the past two months I suddenly am feeling rejuvenated and totally inspired.

I've been writing incessantly since early November and have been sending what I've written to every progressive thinker of whom I am aware throughout the past several months. I have luckily garnered some really heartwarming responses.

The writing is spiritual, political, addressing historical and religious issues as well. Believe it or not it is at times somewhat humorous. It is also inclusive of "19 tricks or Weapons of Massive Reintegration for Global Amelioration." I'm sure it's quite too long to post here as the formating gets all messed up . If you'd like to see it then send a request with your e-addy via PM and I promise I'll never spam ya.

Here is an excerpt from a cover letter illustrating some other responses I've garnered thus far. . .

"In a world wherein many do not read further than the first four paragraphs of e-mails, I've astoundingly and happily received piles of heartwarming responses from people from all walks of life from various places around the world. I have even heard from more than a handful of "brainiaic" academics. An Ivy league professor funnily floored me by responding with two words, "You rock."

Of the two of my absolute favorite other responses, one came from a funny colleague who's a New Yorker and is normally quite sardonic who said of an earlier text, "It is as though Jane Austin stepped into the future and was really inspired." A normally zippy Australian guy said in a typically uncharacteristic moment of gushiness "Reading your writing is like rolling on a carpet of joy." I was especially thrilled by those responses due to how out of character they were. It was indicative that these two characters had been markedly moved.

Of the plethora of responses I've received, only three were at all negative. Two were from youthful ones who simply said that they had enjoyed an initial version more as it was in its raw spiritual essence and didn't address religiosity or politics. Kids are sometimes purists like that ya know?"

Though all appearances suggest that we are collectively in deep doo doo, I'm sensing something truly miraculous hovering on horizon's edge. But don't ask me to explain why. It's in the text.

Maybe someday I'll even become a grown up and figure out how to get published. LOL

7. LOL
If I wasn't such a cyber ninnie I would and fully intend to do so shortly. I'll bug my buddy xultar to help me or perhaps start pestering elad with stupid questions again. He'll be thrilled with me no doubt.

3. It was fun reading the responses to your queries
Now I want to read what you've written.

Try to hang on to that feeling of passion and giddiness as long as you can.:)

6. Stella - I recently discovered these people.
http://www.lulu.com/

They're a self-publishing and print-on-demand operation. I came across their booth at a writing conference recently, and I really think they may be a good resource for you.

Keep up the good work! I'm struggling with some publishing issues of my own right now. I want to start a magazine--I see the target demographic and the market potential is awesome--but haven't the foggiest idea of where to begin.

:hi:

8. Thanks for the link
so many options it's a bit mind boggling. I know I'll sort it out over time and guidance suggests I'll get a better offer by the fall. Till then "another day another edit" is my mantra.
