I called Senator Cornyn's Office RE: Ben Domenech
I spoke to the Press guy. He had not heard about the situation. I explained that Domenech had resigned from WaPo because of plagarism accusations. I asked if the Senator had any statement regarding the fact that one of his former speech writers has been shown to be a plagarist. Here's the official statement from Cornyn's office:

"Senator Cornyn is against plagarism."

7. to be fair
The poor press dude was totally unaware of the Domenech situation. He said he would pass the info on to the Senator.

13. That's the reason for the "box turtle" references
From Ben's bio on Wikipedia:

"Domenech claims to have been the "youngest political appointee" of the George W. Bush administration. He has worked as a contributing editor for National Review Online; a speechwriter for Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX); and at Regnery Publishing, where his colleagues included Michelle Malkin..."

12. Way to take a stand against the plagiarism special-interest lobby, Senator
A bold move, to be sure. The plagiarists will doubtless respond with thousands of unsourced quotational character smears, but Sen. Cornyn will bravely hold his ground against this next wave of faceless exegesis. It's a matter of principle, ya know.

16. the guy asked me
"Who are you?"

I told him I was a citizen of the State of Texas and I had a right to hear what the Senator had to say on the subject.

This is the very first time I've ever contacted Cornyn. Frankly I have been afraid to do so ever since he said this:

"Cornyn continued: "I don't know if there is a cause-and-effect connection, but we have seen some recent episodes of courthouse violence in this country. . . . And I wonder whether there may be some connection between the perception in some quarters, on some occasions, where judges are making political decisions yet are unaccountable to the public, that it builds up and builds up and builds up to the point where some people engage in, engage in violence. Certainly without any justification, but a concern that I have..."

How sad is it that I, a citizen of his state, am afraid to contact my own Senator because I fear retaliotion for expressing my views?
