...is the chair of the judiciary committee. His history tells me he would be the most likely to investigate the issue. To what length of course, remains a mystery...

11. If there is a vote to consider censure...
And Specter is in favor of it, what Republican is most likely to break the tie for the Censure?

27. Lindsey Graham
...seemed to become swayed by the wiretapping forums and if there were a vote to start investigations, he would have went for it. As I understand, he was quite slandered during the 2000 primaries that recently, he really isn't the biggest fan of the president. Not as much as most pubs are at least.

31. I agree about the butt kissing, But!
Specter is pissed at the WH. This might just work, and we may get the investigation we wanted. I'm staying optimistic about this one, for some reason i believe Specter wants to do the right thing.

22. KO said that Specter's been "drinking truth serum by the gallon"
Or something like that, I'm not sure of the exact wording, but I know that I sat up a little straighter and thought "Oh, goodie."

I thought it was a very encouraging comment from somebody who pays attention to the news for a living. I'd thought of Specter as being a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing--making outraged noises and then pooping out when it came down to taking real action about wiretapping.

42. Specter'sbeen using some very unflattering descriptions of the Admin
...after Gonzalez had spoken to them, he said the Bush Administration was "smoking Dutch clenser." What makes me wonder is who's really smoking the dutch cleanser if it's clear the president broke the law and the chariman of the judiciary comittee doesn't do anything. Quite frankly I believe that if Specter does something too drastic, his colleagues will smear the crap out of him and he will soon lose his chairmanship. It's possible that his very slow, gradual progression could lead to somethign big. Either that or he's just having too much fun with his dutch cleanser and friends.

Let's hope latter's wrong...

54. Specter's job is to make it all go away.
He's already held hearings on the spying, and they were literally nothing more than a collective fraud.

Specter's star witness, Chimp Gonzales, agreed only to testify about things that could arguably linked to al Qaeda. So, whenever he was asked about the crimes committed by Chimp Bush, he said, without saying, "That's a whole different program. I ain't talking 'bout that."

Specter is an enemy of this country. He will hopefully die in prison, with the Chimp people.

17. I thought they would let this die a slow death
one of two things are moving this forward:

1. Frist and Co. have decided they want a fast vote to get votes on record to embarass Feingold and the Democrats because they have discovered the votes are few.

2. They truly want to have a conversation about this to help distance themselves from Bush.

..I think #1 is more likely.

49. I don't like how this is going.....
Hearings on March 31st.....they end up voting NOT to censure....and then Bush will smell clean again to the unfortunate non-thinking mass called the voting public. If they end up voting TO censure.....Bush gets his hands spanked....and it's on with the show!

By way prior to mid-term election, the whole NSA spying issue is off the table, and Bush gets away, again.....even if it's with a miniature public spanking (which I don't think will win during a vote).

The American public have a very lousy memory.....and this censure will not turn out as we kinda of wanted it to.

That's how I see from here, anyways.....

I Hope I'm wrong!

55. PEOPLE THIS IS A FUCKING SETUP!!!
The Senate Judiciary is not going to investigate ANYTHING. They want to set Feingold up because he has been making inroads in the press the last couple of weeks. And they know that once you get the ass-kissing all-stars on the committee like Hatch and that fucking Jeff Sessions and that Texas ass-licker Cornyn going, the Democrats on the committee will NOT come to Feingold's aid. Is Biden gonna help him? Is Schumer? They wouldn't even come out when he made the call for censure and haven't since. When its over, the Rethugs will be able to prance out of the fucking room after dancing all over Feingold's corpse and proclaim to all the world that, "well, at least we had a hearing!!!!" And they will proclaim it all the way to November. THIS THING IS BEING SET UP BECAUSE SPECTER WANTS TO SLAP FEINGOLD IN THE MOUTH. Arlen Specter is not on your side. Don't ever think a republican is on your side. Ever.
