Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold to travel to Iraq
Okay - help me out here - Feingold announces he is travelling to Iraq, and the censure discussion is happening on Friday?!

There are no more details.

http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/special_packages/iraq/14179893.htm

WASHINGTON - Sen. Russ Feingold, who has called for a timetable for U.S. troops to withdraw from Iraq, is traveling to the country with a congressional delegation.

"I am looking forward to observing our country's mission in Iraq once again, and talking to our military commanders, Iraqi officials, and the men and women of our armed forces, who are serving our country so bravely in Iraq," Feingold, D-Wis., said in a statement.

<snip>
This is Feingold's second trip to Iraq. He also visited last year.
Feingold's office declined to release additional details.

9. Same thing occurred to me...
I just hope and pray he stays safe. We don't need another "Wellstone" type event from the BFEE.

10. Article up now about this trip: ABC News
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/25/AR2006032500565.html

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A delegation of U.S. senators said on Saturday that American patience was running thin over the war in Iraq and urged the country's leaders to form a government after more than three months of political deadlock.

<snip>
Some senators in the delegation questioned the wisdom of a continued U.S. military presence in Iraq.

Sen. Russ Feingold, a Democrat from Wisconsin, said it would only fuel the insurgency.

<snip>
Bodies with bullet holes which show signs of torture show up nearly every day in Baghdad, apparent victims of a sectarian "dirty war" that has been gaining pace in the political vacuum left by deeply divided Iraqi politicians.

11. NPR reported that it was a McCain and Feingold trip..
Edited on Sat Mar-25-06 02:08 PM by radio4progressives
didn't mention any other congress members, nor did the report say "Congressional delegation" ..

but did mention McCain. I envisioned the two Senators hashing out all these issues together - Iraq, Rummy, Propaganda, and Domestic Spying...

I even envisioned Feingold putting McCain on notice on his positions, but you know, that was me fantasing what I would say to McCain, if I were in Feingold's seat sitting next to him .. :rofl:
