Jim Brady of Washington Post says they will hire another Conservative
Blogger after resignation of Mr. Domenech when it was revealed about his plagerism.

"We've been catching a lot of grief on the blogs for not catching this ourselves, but obviously plagiarism is hard to spot," Mr. Brady said. He said The Post planned to hire another conservative blogger in Mr. Domenech's place.

1. It's even harder to spot if you don't look for it.

3. "Diamond Jim" Brady is still trying to make up for that "Watergate" thing.
It was a big embarrasment to Katherine Graham herself. She often spoke at elitist, beltway functions of her regret for watching her paper "damage the office of the Presidency"...so, later when former CIA Boss and then-Prez George H W Bush got in trouble during Iran/Contra; well, they helped smooth it over. After all, we can't have the unwashed masses thinking ill of "der Fuhrer!"...hell, then they helped propagandize, promote and sell a slew of Police Actions and Wars from Gulf War I to Panama to Argentina to Grenada to Bosnia to the current manipulated conflict...

You shall know them by their deeds.

9. Brady Better Be Renting, Not Buying
This is the third fiasco for the WAPO "online" division in recent months. It surely hasn't increased the company's bottom line...and I'm certain it's overall ass-kissing for this regime has cost it readership and credibility that is starting to take a bite.

Any PR person will say how a good controversy is a boon for a start-up venture...like how the WAPO's online set-up was when it came online last year, but that's only as good as the controversy. From the revelation that Woodward knew who leaked Libby's name to the Froomkin mess to Howell's ham-handed ombundsman fiasco regarding Abramoff to this latest emabarassment...the powers that be at the Post company must be wondering WTF is going on...and if it's worth it.

The egg is still in the WAPO's face as to who decided Box Turtle Ben represented the "converative" view...and how deeply they investigated both his writings and his background. The hire is Brady's and it's obvious he didn't do due dilligence regarding jouranlism's number one sin: plagarism. Brady's neglect in investigating this is reason for him to be demoted or fired.

BTW...has the world's axis tilted sideways so that George Will and Charles Krauthammer are no longer "conservatives"...and will Mr. Brady counter-balance whatever Box turtle he finds next with someone like a Jane Hamsher or Duncan Black? Yeah, right!!!

11. Hey, Claude Allen is out of a job
He doesn't have journalistic credentials, but that requirement is so 1990s.

And when, Jim, do you plan to hire a liberal blogger, for "balance"? Oh, right. Silly question.

12. I read the WaPo article.
Perhaps I am overly sensitive, but I find myself offended by the general tone of Brady's slanted description. The word "allegations" means there exists no acknowledged proof-ridiculous, in this case.
He includes multiple quotes from the wingers and nary a one from a more liberal minded writer.
It is not news, around here, that right wing weirdos have only a proximate grasp of the truth, and even that, viewed through their suffocating ideology, presents such a stilted view as to escape reality. The whole air seems to be, "sure he's a crook, but you guys were too hard on him!"
And the Malkin mule, carrying her own load of hate and verbal excrescence, cannot resist throwing in a typical insult, even while acknowledging the truth and accuracy of the charges against their anointed one.
It is my considered opinion that very few on the "left" have asked for, or received, preferential treatment or "left leaning" reportage. All we have ever asked for is the truth, un gilded, un-polished truth. Unfortunately, right wing whackos and their sympathizers, such as Brady, seem constrained to view unadorned truth as, somehow, a leftist undertaking.
It is hardly surprising that right wing zealots should view the visible universe as arrayed against them: after all, most of reality has not been massaged by their opinion makers and confronting naked truth can be quite daunting, peeking out of the creche.

13. It is rather obvious that Jim Brady should just write the blog himself
After all, we've seen the kind of rhetoric which he is looking for in how he defines "social conservative" and that he has no interest in allowing any other viewpoint to violate the company's policies of decorum. Moreover, the company seems to have made it quite clear it has no interest in tantrum throwing by other political points of view - just social conservatives.

I won't be reading the Post - when Brady took this step, it might as well been a public announcement that the newspaper holds different standards for political opinions from the Right. They no longer have nothing credible to convey to the public.
