Does anyone have info on the news story about making it a crime
Edited on Sat Mar-25-06 09:09 AM by deutsey
to criticize the president or to point he's lying or something like that?

I need it for an assignment I'm working on and I can't find it anywhere.

It's about a couple weeks to a month old. I think the story was about a member of the House introducing a bill making it illegal to point out the president is lying.

Thanks!

1. Well....
...treason is punishable by death and if you notice the right-wing keywords when they talk about people speaking out against the war and the administration, they say that those people are giving "aid, comfort and moral support to our enemies" which by definition is considered treason. It won't be long before the US starts locking up political prisoners (re: political opponents) using this justification.

2. Haven't heard
but it's the stupidest thing I've heard (since the last time the repukes opened their mouths)

Clearly unconstitutional.

"The bill would make it a crime to tell the American people that the president is breaking the law, and the bill could make it a crime for the newspapers to publish that fact," said Martin, a civil liberties advocate.

I don't think it criminalizes general criticism, just when he is accused of breaking the law. Which would be, what, DAILY now? Hold on, someone's pounding on the door..
