How should I reply to this thread?
This is a post from a Arizona Soccer message board:

Just shut up and let the kids play soccer!

Parents......please leave politics to Bush and leave the soccer to the kids!
Soccer is about enjoyment for the kids!
Most of them enjoy it more when they are playing well,so training and developing a childs soccer skills is important,so yes.....the right coaching is important....but it is not the end of the world if a team is not a 'winning team' as long as the kids are treated well and coached to play soccer the right way and to have ethics and show good sportsmanship!
Remember.....it's ALL about the kids!!!!
Leave parental politics out of it please and be positive for the kids sake!
Thank You
Feel free to agree or disagree"

The first reply:

I agree with you about kids soccer, but do we have to leave the politics to "Bush"?

And then this insightful gem:

oh, Pres. Bush does suck at politics and his communication skills leave something to be desired, but thank God he's president at this time in our history rather than one of those slick political geniuses on the other side of the aisle.

So, he sucks at politics but he is better than ANY Democrat would have been?!?! Twisted.

3. I would leave politics out of a soccer league board conversation or event.
Despite the temptation presented by idiots like the poster there. It actually should be a good time all about the kids. Just mellow out and enjoy yourself, the day, and your family. Those kids of yours will be forty years old with families of their own and no time for you all too soon, trust me!

5. Keeping politics out of sports means
something like; don't let the coach who is tight with the board of directors get all the talented kids on his team. It's not Dem-Repub stuff.

8. Typical average American nonsense...
"We'll just stay out of it and let the experts handle "politics," says Mr NASCAR Dad and Mrs Soccer Mom. That way, in their mind, they're absolved of any civic and moral responsibility, and can continue on with what's most important to them: superficial consumption, which = distraction.

This is what's meant with that old saw about people getting the type of government they deserve.
