What if Debra Lafave had met her student in an online chatroom.... I'm just sayin'.

1. The offense was statutory...

... But since there were no witnesses to the actual occurrence of the offense, the parents of the student decided not to have their child raked over the coals in a court of law...

Double edged sword...

Either the student knew what was going on, and didn't want to admit it in court, or what the parents decided was done for the stated reasons...

Either way, it was not only unethical for the teacher to act in such a manner with the student, but it was illegal by statute in most states...

So she should be in jail in my opinion.
