19. Wow. Thanks for that link. I really like the song and am going to
request that radio stations play it. Also voted, but it needs a lot of DU love. Go, people, and vote.

I was a good Dem
and voted, but I'll whisper something in your ear......

I think they sound like crying cats.

But I like their politics.

11. They transcend music
and it becomes a matter of political free speech. So your Dem instincts are spot-on, TG! :patriot:

12. LOL - I'll buy their CD, not that I would listen to it.
I have a friend whose daughters like girl country singers, so I'll give it to her.

Crying cats. That's funny. Have you seen this video? For the most part these cats just talk, but one is definitely singing.

9. Why are they asking if they can make a comeback?
Edited on Sat Mar-25-06 11:53 AM by rocknation
Seeing as their last tour was a sellout, and they've sold a total of six million copies of their last album despite the "Dixie chicking," exactly where did they go?

13. As Article States....They're Being Boycotted On Lots Of Stations
They were HUGELY popular, and received widespread airplay prior to their remark. When you go from being in 1st place and drop down to 3rd, making it back to the top is considered a "comeback."

They need help from those of us who support their views, so that other artists can feel comfortable speaking their minds too.

Bruce Springsteen said as much when he campaigned for Kerry in '04. He stated that he had built up a lot of "capital" during his career, and he knew that he was going to lose some of it, but that it was worth it to him. I imagine the Chicks feel similar, although they were not even close to Bruce's level and fame, popular as they were.

15. Please, enough about the Dixie Chicks
I like them, but really, what did they expect, when they poked their fingers in the eye of the Bush administration, enraging the red state base of country music listeners? I find it hard to feel sorry for what happened to them, when they all are millionaires and I can't get a fucking job.

17. Red State Base--No, Crony Capitalists Were Offended
The Red State base of country music fans were less offended than the management of such radio networks as Clear Channel and Sinclair Broadcasting, both corporate crony-style capitalists and both of which were strong supporters of Buckaroo Bush.

Just for grins, I went over to the AOL message boards to see who was still slamming the Dixie Chicks. I'd bet that half of the posts dissing the Chicks were made by paid right-wing posters funded by "conservative" funds underwritten by corporate donations.

16. Don't vote! Let the redneck bigots skew the vote
The whole world needs to see what pukes country music is. Let the mother*uckes sink the Chicks. The Chicks are financial secure, and they can work in other genres of music.
Country music can go fuck itself, and the horse in rode in on, along with all its narrow minded, pointy head performers(do the name Tobe Keith mean anything to free thinking people?)

22. HUH???
Geez! You're trashing someone who is on your side, just so you can bash country music in general?

Did you even read that article? The Dixie Chicks are basically saying that they too have had enough with country music. It's kind of harsh to generalize like you have, and classify them along with those in their industry who have completely different viewpoints.

Just because they're wealthy and successful, doesn't mean they don't care. Wishing harm to them makes little sense to me.

23. Regardless of how I put it, I am not wishing them harm,
I am wishing country music harm.
When Natalie Maines made her comment about Bush, I did something unusual for me, I bought a CD. Theirs.
I like the Chicks, but I hate and detest country music, and all its fake patriotism. They wrap themselves in the flag, but forget the Constitution.
I'll buy this Chicks' album too. My two bit dig at the pukes in country music.
