Santa Clarita Woman, 78, Asked To Enlist As Marine

(AP) SAUGUS, Calif. Sonia Goldstein was flattered by the nice recruiting letter asking her to consider becoming one of "the few, the proud."

But at age 78, she thinks she may be just a little old to enlist in the Marine Corps.

The letter told her the corps could use her unique language skills, but also warned that life as a Marine would test her physical and mental abilities.

Goldstein says she'll do whatever she can for her country, but this is kind of stretching it

The Marines ordinarily recruit people 18 to 27, says Major Joseph Kloppel, a Corps spokesman. He says the letter must have been sent by mistake.

4. Bless Sonia Goldstein!
In ten years, when I am her age and my grandson is old enough to be conscripted for one of Bush's ugly legacies, whatever war that might be, I will gladly volunteer to be sent off to said war in my grandson's place. My unique skill will be my desire to see my grandchildren live and my lack of concern about what happens to me.

In case I haven't posted it recently, may I once again state that I hate Bush, his minions and the horses they rode in on.

7. Seems they use those lists for the military and the church directories
for the voters. They are obviously gearing up for the skills draft that they have talked about for sometime now it seems.
