Report: Afghan Convert Says He's Ready to Die
38 minutes ago

ROME - An Afghan man who risks execution for converting from Islam to Christianity said he is fully aware of his choice and is ready to die for it, according to an interview published Sunday in an Italian newspaper.

"I am serene. I have full awareness of what I have chosen. If I must die, I will die," Abdul Rahman told the Rome daily La Repubblica, which sent him questions through a human rights worker who visited him at a Kabul detention facility.

Authorities have barred journalists from seeing the 41-year-old defendant.

"Somebody, a long time ago, did it for all of us," he added in a clear reference to Jesus Christ.

1. Well, I guess that this is the truest form of religious belief and having
the courage of one's convictions. But it is SO damn wrong that this man has to die.

3. I think it's a true form of insanity
look : if they crucify him, EVERYBODY is going to be happy, the guy included. Mel Gibson can shoot a new movie. The only ones that won't appreciate are the sane and decent human beings, but that's another story...

6. I agree. It is nuts. Just the thought of murdering people in the 'name'
of religion boggles the mind.

Now we have the Taliban WITH the poppy fields.
Plus, Christianity will soon have another martyr, just what it needs!

4. What method of execution will they use?
This is so wrong on so many levels, but it is an object lesson that "nation building" only goes so far. Definitely NOT good PR for Islam.
