He Can Fight In Iraq, But Can't Deliver Mail

Jason Lyon of Hamburg served in Iraq. He passed a test to be a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, but he has been told a twisted ankle makes him physically unable to do the job.

Congressman Brian Higgins, D, Buffalo, has written a letter to the Postal Service asking that they reconsider the denial.

Lyon has medical documents from the military indicating that he has no physical limitations.

Postal employees get extra points added to the tests for being veterans. Disabled veterans get extra consideration, too.

We had a rural carrier here who was a Vietnam vet and an amputee. He retired recently.

I don't understand this story. Have the rules changed in the last few years?

and putting yourself in harms way. It makes you wonder what kind of people make these irrational decisions. Is it a prerequisite to be irrational in order to work for the US government.

assholes in middle and top management in the corporate world. I guess that is why I chose to be self-employed.

3. Find this hard to believe, they get bonus points out the ass.

My father is in the USPS, you get nice bonus points if your a veteran, injured vet, or wife of a deceased vet. The nice thing is it opens up some good oppurtunities for them, the bad thing is that you get some real dumbasses working there who barely get in due to the bonus points.
