In 1984, her husband died in a plane crash, leaving her a widow with four children spanning from age 9 to age 16. Despite a lack of formal business training, Georgia went to work running her husband’s small manufacturing company in New Castle, Pa. Under Georgia’s leadership during the past two decades, Berner International has TRIPLED its number of employees and increased its revenue by 600%.
Georgia is a graduate of North Allegheny High School and Hollins College. She holds two Master’s degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, one in English Literature and one in Social Psychology.
A grandmother of eleven Georgia is mother to four children, Mikael, Leif, Miranda and Jennifer. In 1993, she married James (Jim) Farber and gained four more children, Kelly, Michael, Daniel and Brian. Collectively, Georgia and Jim have eleven grandchildren.
A successful CEO who has created jobs in Western Pennsylvania
Georgia is the CEO of Berner International Corporation, a manufacturing firm located in New Castle, PA. The company manufactures and sells air curtains (air doors) and energy recovery equipment for Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems (HVAC).
Berner International provides health care with Blue Cross/Blue Shield for employees and their families as well as a 401K plan for every employee. In addition to her experience creating good jobs at Berner International, Georgia has served on various regional boards that promote economic development, including the Lawrence County Economic Development Corp., the Southwest Pennsylvania Commission, the Pennsylvania Economy League, and the Allegheny Conference Regional Investors Council. She served for four years on the board of Pittsburgh branch of the Federal Reserve Bank in Cleveland.

A lifelong commitment to public service
Georgia’s commitment to public service on behalf of children, women and families include board memberships with organizations such as the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County, Adagio Health and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Jameson Health System. In 1976, she co-founded Volunteers Against Abuse Center (VAAC) in Butler County. She has also served on the Zelienople Public Library board, the Jameson Hospital board and the Sewickley Academy Board of Directors.
