"I am" - Using Google Groups to see who identifies with what party
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 05:24 PM by ck4829

I used Google Groups and used the phrases "I am a Republican" and "I am a Democrat" and searched year by year. I was surprised at what I had seen. Republicans have almost always had the lead, the exception being the 80's, Democrats had a couple hits and 2005, when Democrats took the lead for a year.

2006 is another thing altogether. A closer examination of it revealed that many people who said "I am a Republican" had some interesting things to say. They either said that they were Republican and sick of the GOP and Bush or that they were willing to work with Democrats to cause change.

Could 2005 and 2006 be a sign of things to come? I sure hope so.
