57. You mean like the one of Britney driving her car w/ baby on lap & not in
its car seat safely buckled in?

That would also be a perfect statue to the "Pro-life" movement....since they don't seem to care too much about the children once they are born...

Even a cockroach has to do more for the money...

Also, Brit-brat looks far more calm and content than any human female would during childbirth...

40. you ain't no better than Britney
you wake up every day and what comes out of you (as in Britney): big brown shit. We're all just big blood/muccus/shit machines who always end up dead. Some of us even think we're better than others. That's probably the funniest thing I've experienced here on planet Earth.

6. I agree
Also, mother of two. The baby cannot drop from a lying on stomach position. I took Lamaze 20 plus years ago. The most natural postion to give birth is squatting.

Who do this people think they are fooling? You cannot fool a woman who already IS a mother.

in fact I spent my second labor the same way I spent both my last trimesters.. lying on my left side. x( I know I would have had kid #2 so much faster if I had been allowed out of bed. (I did actually like the swayback position, but I preferred it standing at and leaning on the end of the bed... only got away with it briefly after trips to the bathroom, untilt he nurses caught me out of bed and hustled me back into it. *sigh*

45. ewh. Sounds like you had your about the same time I had mine -
or have they gone back to that nastiness, again?

It infuriates me that the medical community has once again managed to turn childbirth into a 'condition' to be treated. For a short while, it seemed like we had managed to get back to the idea the childbirth is a natural process. I'm all for intervention when NECESSARY -- but all these monitors and IV's and enemas and drugs . . . and don't get me started on planned C-sections for no good reason.

sigh. Probably a good thing I don't do the coaching thing anymore - I'd probably deck a nurse and get arrested right as my mom was crowning!

didn't want to give me meds if we could help it so the best natural treatment was to keep me on my left side to keep the BP down.

Nude Britney Spears Serves As Pro-Life Monument

A naked Britney Spears giving birth to her son could be the new rallying point for the pro-life movement. What? Yes, a sculptor has created a Britney shrine for all to worship.

"A nude Britney Spears on a bearskin rug while giving birth to her firstborn marks a "first" for Pro-Life. Pop-star Britney Spears is the "ideal" model for Pro-Life and the subject of a dedication at Capla Kesting Fine Art in Brooklyn's Williamsburg gallery district, in what is proclaimed the first Pro-Life monument to birth, in April.

Dedication of the life-sized statue celebrates the recent birth of Spears' baby boy, Sean, and applauds her decision of placing family before career. "A superstar at Britney’s young age having a child is rare in today’s celebrity culture. This dedication honors Britney for the rarity of her choice and bravery of her decision," said gallery co-director, Lincoln Capla. The dedication includes materials provided by Manhattan Right To Life Committee.

"Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston," believed Pro-Life's first monument to the "act of giving birth," is purportedly an idealized depiction of Britney in delivery. Natural aspects of Spears’ pregnancy, like lactiferous breasts and protruding naval, compliment a posterior view that depicts widened hips for birthing and reveals the crowning of baby Sean’s head.

23. all the rich gals and the hollywood gals want c-sections.
If they don't need them, they don't care.. they want to retain their pre-birth youthfulness.. if you know what I mean. Pretty sick to choose surgery over natural birth just for vanity and ease sake. Says a lot about a woman... it's one thing if your doctor says you HAVE to, but if you can't handle giving birth to something naturally, and you'd go thru non-necessary surgeryyou probably don't have what it takes to be a parent, perhaps adopting a hamster would be a better choice. Or paying someone else to give birth to your embryo...

It's blatantly ridiculous - purposeful kitsch in the Jeff Koons tradition. If Drudge has actually interpreted it as pro-life, he's being punk'd.

It's Britney Spears pregnancy porn in a New York/Williamsburg gallery. Clearly facetious to me.

Controversial Sculptor Daniel Edwards Featured on Send2Press Podcast
Edited by Carly Zander
Mon, 31 Oct 2005, 17:59:00 GMT

TORRANCE, CA (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Sculptor Daniel Edwards, who recently held a controversial exhibition at New York's First Street Gallery, that made the front page of the NY Times arts section, and raised the eyebrows of sports fans because of Ted Williams' "Death Mask" is the featured guest on the latest Send2Press entertainment Podcast. The Podcast is hosted by PRSA and ASCAP member Christopher Simmons.

- snip -

Edwards gallery show, which ran during September 2005, was called "The Ted Williams Memorial Display with Death Mask, from The Ben Affleck 2004 World Series Collection." The main element of the exhibit was Edwards' sculpture of a "death mask" of baseball great Ted Williams, depicting Williams as he now exists -- in a cryonic slumber.

Williams' actual head is stored in a metal container filled with liquid nitrogen in Scottsdale, Arizona's Alcor Life Extension Foundation, which claims to be the most advanced cryonics service in the world. Edwards gained some notoriety for the exhibit because some mistakenly believed the death mask was a casting from the actual frozen head of Ted Williams.

Dan is a classically trained sculptor from New York's Graduate School of the Figurative Arts, and his notable public sculpture work includes The Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy Memorial in Indianapolis, of which groundbreaking ceremonies were performed by President Clinton and Senator Ted Kennedy. He also has works in the permanent collections of the National Art Museum of Sport in Indianapolis, the Las Vegas art museum, and the Indiana statehouse.

Exhibitors Statement

I believe a thousand dollars spent on ebay could yield a more interesting and relevant exhibit than a thousand spent at Sotheby’s, any day. It simply depends on the story you can generate from a given object. A Rembrandt may not be as intriguing as an ordinary household appliance once you’ve learned, for instance, that same appliance was used to bludgeon unsuspecting town’s folk a century ago.

This time, I’ve referred to P.T. Barnum and assembled a show designed to reveal some captivating exhibits that mostly prove the storytelling value of even the most mundane objects. What a great achievement it would be to find an ordinary object, physically un-manipulated, and present it in a way that changes common perceptions of it. Of course, curators have been trying this since Barnum, mostly expecting that the right pedestal and lighting will do just that, and the Formalists mostly care about the beauty or compositional value of an object. For me, the interest is in the storytelling potential and the solution is in the juxtaposition of one object to another. Any two objects easily tell a story, and if you want a more complex story, just add another object.

63. I'm a guy, so I have a question.
Is it necessary in child birth to be totally nude? Or is this artist just a FUCKYING PERVERT?

67. Of Course Darling But Where Is Her Martini & Virginia Slim?
De rig-eur to have a smoke and a cocktail when jr is about to pop out. :silly: What claptrap this entire article is. And I'm sure Spears is so brave to have the child just so she can dump it with a nanny. How brave of her to sacrifice her body for 9.5 months, now she'll be in the gym 10 hours a day telling all women how easy it is to get in shape after a pregnancy. Because she is so BRAVE! Fuck that nasty SLAG. Her fifteen minutes are up. Go away Slag mama. Go away.
