Kevin Philips' said E.J. Dionne says that McCain/Jeb Bush could be Ticket
for "Selection '08." Philips said it "could be in jest."

But, I wonder with Jeb Bush out of his Florida job...could we expect to see a "McCain/Bush" ticket for '08...and how would many Mainstream DU'ers feel about this?

Would it be a good thing? McCain the Maverick co-opting Jeb the "Bushman" into a ticket that MIDDLE AMERICA would SUPPORT? After all..most of Middle America thinks the Clinton/Monica CigarGate thing was so filthy that it overcomes ANYTHING any DEM would EVER SAY..because pornoraphic Ken Starr released SEX in the Oval Office outweighes corruption by Abramoff/Delay...and isn't Abramoff/Delay just a Democratic Fiasco, anyway?

So...moving on...Jeb is the "Cuter Bushbot" and McCain has GRAVITAS...

Down the road to HELL...with that handbasket just on the bars?

3. just like they were so tough on *?
they really pressed him on his connections to Ken Lay & Jack Abramoff... or (before that) his sweetheart deal regarding the Texas Rangers... or how his AWOL status wasn't really an issue until Aug/Sept of 2004.

McCain could have similar concerns should he choose a Bush for Veep.

4. Was that the smart Kevin Philips or the stupid Kevin Philips?
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 07:32 PM by HamdenRice
I don't understand this guy. When he is interviewed on left wing media, like Amy Goodman's Democracy Now, he sounds brilliant and progressive. Then yesterday, I saw him on Little Spud's show (Russert), and he was spouting such inane, middle of the road non-observations about politics that I could barely believe it was the same guy.

Unless Philip's main goal is to sell books, so he is what the Pacifica audience wants to hear when he is on Pacifica, and he is what Spud's audience wants to hear when he is with Spud.

All this is to say that McCain/Jeb is an insane, actually stupid, prediction, unless of course ALL the voting machines in the country are Diebold. In that case they could run Howdy Dowdy and win -- which is almost exactly what Jeb for president constitutes. Is there any sentient creature in the galaxy who actually wants another Bush within 1000 miles of the White House?

16. I just saw Phillips interviewed by Freeptard Norquist on C-Span
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 08:02 PM by radio4progressives
in fact it's about to rebroadcast in about an hour, i think i just heard.

Anyway, he definitely gave a different kind of spin of an interview for his boy Grover. I think you're right, he's essentially a business man and he knows how to play to the audience...

I'm just wondering how accurate his predictions are... politically, economically and culturally.

5. McCain's would be the shortest Presidency in the history of that office.
I wouldn't take but 24 hours for Jeb to usurp McCain and claim the throne. Another crazed lone gunman who would like to catch the eye of a Hollywood starlet ought to do the trick.

18. I think that a Jeb Bush Veep would guarantee a loss for the GOP
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 08:06 PM by radio4progressives
I think most people in America are frankly very sick to death of the Bush Crime Family... apart from the 30% kool aid drinking bush bots, i don't think the rest of Republicans would want to go for another possible Bush round - no freaking way.

that to me would be an automatic win for the Dems unless it is HRC..

then it's the same issue, and people will gravitate to the independent candidates.

The Pub Party is THAT BAD and the citizens out there are well aware of this...they would not support the PUB Party no more...

Their time had come BUT, they have squandered an opportunity that they could do the JOB...We now know they are full of SHIT

America now knows too...

This is why the Pubs are running scared as well they should be...their excesses are their own doom.

The Pubs backed a nincomepoop 2x and they share the Blame for all our troubles...They backed Newt and see what lies theY put out with their CONTRACT WITH AMERICA...FULL OF SHIT ONCE MORE....BALANCE THE BUDGET MY ASS.

Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 07:33 PM by redphish
We've had to deal with that shit Jeb for 8 looooooong years. When the voters of Florida passed constitutional amendments to force our sycophant legislature to reduce class sizes and create a commuter rail system to link our largest metro areas, his response was to tell us we were too stupid to understand what we were voting for. His legislature then forced re-votes on the issue. After his buddies spent millions to re-educate us, the class size amendment survived but the rail system was history. Jeb is every bit the fascist that his brother is.

24. Yeah...but sadly lots of good DU'ers were thinking Kerry/McCain would
be a good ticket. There were many here looking for Unity. And, we need to respect that at "that time" some here were so frustrated they thought that "reaching across the aisle to the Repugs with a handshake of McCain" might just bring the "America" they knew back....

I wasn't amongst those who loved McCain and pushed for "across the aisle unity" but even if some were Freeps...there were GOOD DEMS who supported that. And many Dems who STILL DO!!!!

30. When he hit against the "dark side" and it took over...you mean?
 What worries me as that he was always on the "dark side" and that he suckered folks who were so desperate for an "across the aisle handshake" to help us out of this nightmare.

How do you know "which side" he was always on. He seemed to play both sides against the middle."

but who knows what lies in folks souls....til it's tested...maybe there was a "good side" at one time.

23. McCain would be a one-termer probably
and having Jebthro as his "little buddy" would be a nifty segue into 8 years of another Bushgime..:puke:

The Bushes have always been jealous of the Kennedys and longed for their own dynasty.. They are 2/3 of the way there.. You BETCHA they are going for it.. They have no shame and their gang controls the vote-counting.. why wouldn't it work?

stray from the neo conservative agenda. So in reality, it is just another bush presidency pushing their aristocratic agenda on America.

McCain would have no real power. Once he is sworn in, his usefulness will have come to an end.

31. Just remember...Jeb has more "charm" than the "Snake, George II."
Floridians have failed to throw him out on his butt. And, it's rumoured that Poppy thought Jeb "had the stuff" over his clone look alike chimpbot.

Jeb Bush ruled FLA after 2000.. Why? And, why couldn't he be the next "chosen one." Who would stand up to him? Maybe John Conyers, the Black Caucus and those few who support the Black Caucus...but who else?
