Sexism and forging Solidarity between the "sexes"
I propose a self-reflection, via a reading of the below thread. In it you will find an important OP. What follows, if you step away from the flames, are allies speaking past one another on this very issue. I hope a reading of this thread will spark a recognition of the internal conflicts here on issues of gender. I hope the end result is the realization of a unity on this issue. We can be allies. Izzybeans a male is also an uppity woman. However nothing I post here will allow you to come to the same conclusion as me. Just read the thread. This is not a reference to the OP. I agree with the message and intent. It's a reference to what follows; a circular firing squad.

1. The problem was with the way the question was phrased.

some took it as a personal reflection - as you put it.

some took it as a semantic question.

some didn't take it any way at all - they just saw the word "sexism" and started ranting.

The "definitions" were largely subjective. This is why we stick to dictionary definitions as a basis for effective communication - something we can all agree upon to start with, then take personal departures from there.

A better question would have been, "what does sexism mean to you?"

2. I agree. Yet everyone is united as to the existence of sexism
and many embed that knowledge into the practical aspects of their lives. Developing partnerships instead of unequal relationships.
